Sarimae
It's like nobody that comes up with this stuff has ever seen V for Vendetta. People will only take being walked all over for so long before something sets them off and revolution happens. Right now, the internet keeps a lot of people from caring about what's actually happening in the world...take that away and suddenly you've got a LOT more people wanting to change things. If the government ever actually does start to censor the internet and it becomes widespread, there are going to be riots. Not just peaceful protests, there will be full-blown riots in DC. And as large as our military is, they can't keep every single person under control at all times. There are some people who have a LOT of free time to think up, and plan out, ways to bring down the government. All it takes is the right spark to set it off. A government can't have people under controls ? You bet, they DO already. even if there are 20% of guys wanting a change of politics or gain more rights BACK, what you wanna do ? Rioting ? Yeah..good choice..search for "riots" and "police" and look, who won...everytime. But policemen/soldiers won't shoot the own people ? Yeah....you bet. Everwhere in everytime. Those guys are not by coincidence "order-takers", but it's their psychological nature, and their belief, that "the gouvernment is right..." This will never change. Worked so far since ancient times, so..don't bet tooo much at the broker ;)

In ancient times when rulers pushed too hard on the people, they were overthrown. Edited January 27, 2012 by pavy
rabidNode
Its all done deal. the fight for internet freedom was years ago and no one did anything. We will see what was already planned roll out in these coming years and most will just get used to it. Money talks everyone money talks...I don't side with these people I actually do not side with either sides the future is total control over access to information. i thought pandoras box couldn't be closed but for the mainstream it will be.was a nice ride we now return to the scheduled path of humanity want something different think about investing in local node structures that can distribute the net. that would have course take people banding together for more than 5 minutes to *censored* about one thing or another so yah.... Krawll
Does anyone know what was the final word on this ? Was it signed ? is it still being debated ? Usualy i realy don't give a rats azz about politics or whatever happens in the rest of the world . But i have to admit that when the internet is the main target , i do become nervous. So if anyone could update me on what's going on i'd appreciate it . Thanks Krawll

James009
This stuff is getting out of control. First, we (the US) had a bill introduced to prevent video sharing, then SOPA and PIPA, now ACTA... next we're going to be fighting over the new Google privacy agreement (mark my words). Someone has it in their agenda to change the way we use the internet and it's dangerous for our freedom. And that's not even addressing any of the other issues at stake here.
