slyfox37
Hi all, I've been working on a personal mod where I've duplicate each race, keeping the stats the same, where the only thing different is that the ID for each race has the word "female" added to it. I then went to the new female "races" and changed the model and textures. This caused all females in Oblivion to have beautiful faces without making the men in the game seem... well, feminine. I then went to every female and pasted a variety of custom facial templates and got some variety in there too. I ran the esp I created and things actually appeared to work, except for the fact that some characters lost their dialog! Not all, but some. They look great, but I get the "has no greeting" message with a box at the top of the screen. When I went back into the construction set, the characters without greeting appear to have the topic filter for that NPC, but they are missing a bulk of their original topics. I only modified the model and texture sources and nothing else. What happened? Can this be worked around, or did I just completely waste my time on something people have already tried before? Thanks for any info ya'll may have for me!
slyfox37
I forgot to mention that I went to each female NPC and switched their race to the race "female" version. So, for example: I went to that Nord woman Else God Hater and changed her race from "Nord" to "Nord Female", which is exactly like the "Nord" race, with the only change being the stock female model and texture. That was the pretty much what I did for every woman in Oblivion.

The thing is my wife loved Morrowind when they had custom head packs installed and didn't mind that a lot of NPCs look like they had twins in every city. She would've loved to have played Oblivion, but just can't get passed how atrocious the women are and that linking resources between males and females was just plain lazy of Bethesda. The women just looked too man-like for her taste. There are mods out there that have been created for the player character that look incredible, like the work of Divine Avenger here at the Nexus. I've managed to make all NPCs appear exactly as each of Divine Avenger's characters with this plug-in I'm working on. I just don't know what happened with their dialogs. evilkoal
i think that the dialogue is race related, or something like that. but i'm not sure.i do know that sometimes dialog wont work unless the "playable" check box is checked in their race... HAHAHA! OMG! That was it! For some reason when I duplicated the Nord race to make the NordFemale race it unchecked the playable option. That fixed it! Now, I've got separate female models and textures NPCs from the males - it works :thanks: All I have to do now is play test it and make sure nothing else is broken. If everything is fine, then I think I might have just figured out how to do something thought impossible... so I hope anyway... we'll see.
bsama
This sounds like it'd be a nice mod if you could get it packed properly. Are you having to update each characters face individually? If you do I have a couple suggestions to keep in mind if you want to ^_^ 1) certain NPCs should stay "ugly" though; ie. the "ugly cult" or whatever they're called, though you could just make them look like the normal looking NPCs do now :-P2) make sure that old lady characters look old, granny voice + hot body = creepy ;) good luck, hope you get it working
evilkoal
yes, i do quite hope you get this working! i tried to do it before, but every time i tried to create a new character, it crashed my game when i went over the duplicate race. cant wait for the release :D
slyfox37
Well, so far I've given every female within their race a new texture, model, and shape. You'd expect all of each race would look identical, but thanks to Bethesda's original skin toning, all the women end up looking different anyway - similar in some respects, but infrequent enough with differences that wouldn't be so obvious that it would take away from the immersion while playing. I've added Ren's hair pack and some hairs from the Corean mods to different characters for every woman in the game, further diversifying the overall look and appeal. As far as keeping the "officially ugly" people, ugly, well... sadly I didn't play the game well enough to know who they are off-hand (there are after all, a ton of women on the editor list). As for the old folks looking old, well they still have gray hair and their skin tones look a little on the putrid side still - so, as far as old goes, lets just say they aged well, but still seem older than the rest (like the "ugly" part, I'm not sure who is supposed to be a "granny"). Now, this started off as a personal mod for my wife to enjoy, but if others are really interested in this (and as far as I know, no one has accomplished this) I'd be more than happy to share it. The only thing is, it is my first mod and I probably took some shortcuts in making it, which means that I made the esp take on more associated esps than it actually needed. When I load the esp, it depends on close to a dozen other mods. Overall, the file isn't clean. If I'm going to share it, I could use some tips on cleaning it up without having to do all the crazy amount of work it took to make this thing happen - that or everyone will just have to download all the other mods that probably didn't really get used just to use my file.
