Gandalf's staff: The Catalyst

Hey everyone,

I thought about the staff of Gandalf and how it doesn't fire a single spell, but acts like a catalyst to his will. (like potters tiny stick too)

I wonder if this could be scripted in skyrim, making the staff like an extension of your hand, firering all the normal one-hand spells but fortifying their damage or duration.

For example the candle-light spell could be permanent when casted through the staff, making it a torch. A ward could use less magicka or be stronger,

making the staff a shield an so on...

This way one would only need one cool attire-friendly walking-staff and also level in the proper school of magic.

Also the ridiculously lame destruction spells could be fortified elegantly.

Do you guys think this is possible and worth it?

A lot would be possible, yes.

It would need some scripting -- not hard, but quite a few scripts need to be writtten.

No, to make it even better: We need the CK to script. So nobody can actually do anything like it.

I suggest waiting a few weeks, then try to request it. Perhaps somebody wanting to give some depth into the magic system will listen. You could also run the idea with some of the bigger magic overhaul mods.

That said, it would be slightly weird if any staff would work just as strong. The more magical attuned the staff was, in terms of materials it is made of and enchantings done to make it, the stronger it would be. So perhas a weaker staff would add 50% more time on the Candle light spell, or making it consuem X mana per second, while a very strong one would let you hold it up infinite without depleting magicka. Just an idea.

Cheers,

Matth
