DeadlyPhoenyx
Greetings everyone.Because I have had a couple of messages about what happened to the mod "Ultima Widescreen 21x9", I have decided to make a post here to clarify what has happened and why.I was the developer of UWS, a mod that allowed users of it to enjoy the best and most complete experience in Fallout 4 on their ultra wide monitors. As users of ultra-wides will know, Bethesda chose to ignore the format, and therefore when Fallout 4 is played on an ultra-wide monitor, it resulted in a extremely stretched UI. However, this mod came under fire recently for making use of multiple assets from other authors, but no permission was sought from them prior to the mod being posted. This has resulted in the mod being permanently pulled from the Nexus sites.Because of the nature of this mod, and the inclusion of other authors works, such authors have been made aware that their work was used in the mod without their consent. Thus, after being contacted for permission, several have refused to consent to have their mods included within UWS.This means that all development on UWS has permanently ceased. UWS will not be returning. For those who downloaded the mod while it was available, the last release of UWS (v.0.7.02.28) should be relatively bug-free.Finally, please do not contact me requesting support/updates to this mod. Such request will go unanswered and be ignored. To to reiterate; all development of UWS has now ceased and all support for it has been dropped. The mod will not be returning.I apologize for any inconvenience this causes, and thank you for your understanding. linqua
mod theft doesn't pay, man. if u gonna pass off others work as ur own ur a theif. its cause of ppl like u the real good modders r leaving the community. ur mod literally ripped off a dozen other mods... y should u think that jus because a mod is on nexus that u have the right 2 steal it and upload it in ur own mod without asking? thats just wrong & in my opinion should get anyone like u banned from nexus. its a pity u didnt. if u did that 2 a mod i made i know i would b super angry. hopefully the authors of the mods you ripped will block u from their mods. for anyone interested. this guy ripped off all these mods:hud framework, iconlibs2, valdacil's item sorting, def_inv, def_hud, better dials for power armor hud, full dialogue interface
DeadlyPhoenyx
No mod theft doesn't pay, but I did steal anything. Your stance and opinion on the matter of mod theft is duly noted, but you have to realise that there is a difference between mod theft and a lack of permission. This mod did not steal nor claim that the works included were solely devloped by myself. Of course everyone has different views as to what constitutes as mod theft, and if I am wrong, I'm happy to be corrected. What UWS did do was make use of mod assets from several other modders works, and while I didn't obtain permission to compile their mods into my own, I did take extensive steps to make credit where it was due. I realise now that isn't enough. As mentioned to the moderator who dealt with me on this, UWS was designed to help the ultra-wide screen gaming community here on the Nexus. I had no intention of benefiting from and only wanted to give back something to the modding community. However I have now learned that people consider that a form of theft. I made a mistake, I broke the rules and now after receiving moderation and a warning, the mod has been removed from the Nexus sites. The mod is gone, and will not be returning due to the points highlighted out in the first post. While it is my firm belief that you are entitled to your own opinion, please, leave it to the moderators to decide what punishment to hand out. And also what mod authors whose work I used decide to do. It just feels you are trying to envoke some kind of name and shame, but also make a bigger situation out of the the issue than it already needs to be. So please, quit what you're doing so we can all get along. If you have reason to believe and proof that further action should be taken, bite your tongue and go talk to a moderator, okay? Don't whine about it here. This thread was made to allow the people who downloaded UWS to know why the mod is no longer available. It's called being transparent, and I believed it was a responsible thing to do. If you don't like that, or you don't like what I did, that is your problem. There is absolutely no excuse to spread it around here on the forum. Edited March 4, 2017 by DeadlyPhoenyx
DustinMock
Real shame, I really love your mod (gotta make sure not to delete it now). Got one small question though: Have you considered reposting your mod without the mods that the authors refuse to grant usage up and simply apply them as required masters? For all intent and purpose: DL required modsDL UWS w/ baked in patches for said required mods????Profit! I'd be more than willing to rework the ESP to function properly in that manner if you still have any desire to continue with your mod. It's just such a waste of so much quality work to let it just die. Regardless of what you opt to do, I very much appreciate all the time and effort you put into your mod and can definitely say it is/was a must have for us who use 3440 x 1440 monitors. I'm considering bringing this mod back under a new name (due to the flack it received), if I have the time to invest in it. Regarding your proposition, this were my exact thoughts. I will see what happens in the coming weeks with free time and try to get something out. I'll update this thread when a new version is released.
