Ok my first problem was not being able to log into Nexus Mod Manager today so I decided to try Skyrim without mods and the game still does not work, I get the stopped responding error as soon as I click play.

This is the error message it gives me.

No, I had the game working perfectly last night with all of my mods installed through Nexus Mod Manager.

When I got to the area with the Graybeards I noticed the sound was super laggy but the rest of the game was running at full speed.

I went to play the game today and Nexus Mod Manager isn't working so I decided to play Vanilla Skyrim or try playing with mods but not using NMM.

Skyrim won't boot up and it gives me that same error message when I try with or without mods.

Just took a closer look at your error message and this line looks familliar to me.

Fault Module Name: ntdll.dll

Try updating drivers for your graphics card, that did it when my brother had problems with games crashing.

I have the latest Beta driver 290.53

What would renaming those files do?

Well for one, it would reset your Skyrim settings, and force the game to make new settings to accommodate your computer in it's current state. Perhaps you updated a driver or something? It shouldn't harm your system in any way, and the process is reversible assuming if you didn't permanently delete your old settings file.
