Galrun
Been looking up various sites and forums in an attempt to find a tutorial that explains how to make a custom set of standalone armor (Non-replacer) that utilizes pre-existing textures/meshes, but so far I've had no luck. Attempting to make something simple, just a single one-piece armor in the same manner as the Cerberus Ajax Armor set (Not trying to make individual Chest/Arm/Leg/Helmet pieces) for both M/F Shepard. Anyone got a good tutorial link or know someone who'd be willing to help an unwashed layman out?
rubydorje
Hey Galrun, very high aspiration indeed... I don't know so much, but this is from what I know:You could use 3dsMax trial version can get you 30 day access with every email address you login with. You could load up different meshes and combine them into one. Mesh editing is time consuming activity...Ottemis and GirlPlaysGame have tutorials, but You need to gather lot of knowhow for the end result. Mesh editing/modding is very time consuming...Good luck. I can pretty much figure out the bare-bones of meshes and texture manipulation with a little bit of practice and trial/error, I'm just having problems trying to figure out exactly how to get the fundamental file structures down (Such as which files in ME3Explorer do what in order to allow for me to create a standalone armor rather than a mesh or texture replacement for an existing armor). rubydorje
Hey Mate, I'm a bit lost now about what you liked to do... anyhow...you need a mesh and alter it, then separatelly need textures and alter them.with the help of ME3Explorer you can extract and replace the mesh and textures too.The texture will wrap around any mesh, but won't appear properly if it was not made for that particular mesh...You can use 3dsMax to alter the mesh and Photoshop for the textures... I guess the best if you start somewhere and take the questioning from there... good luck.

Yeah, managed to so far find the meshes I was looking for and extract them (Still hunting up the textures I'm looking for inside the file tree). I'm just trying to figure out how to make a separate armor asset instead of replacing the mesh/textures of a pre-existing armor in the game's files. Ottemis
There are several mods on the ME3 Nexus (custom DLC mods) that you could download. You can load their files into Package Editor (ME3Explorer) to take a look at how they have handled the cloning of new entries. Just a word of caution, don't use them as a base for your own modding without their express consent, looking through the files to get a hint at what to do yourself is fine, but anything else requires permission. Other then that you might want to check out the old and new me3explorer forums and the me3explorer wiki, as they both might hold tutorials or articles that might be of use for this purpose.
