avianmosquito
A while ago I put out two verisimilitude mods for Oblivion and Nehrim. I'm releasing the newset updates in a couple hours, and I'll be releasing video tutorials teaching players the practical differences between these mods and the original games, as well as providing gameplay tips for the mods because the way they play is drastically different from that of the original games. These videos will beon youtube. I will post the links on this thread. I'll have them uploaded by 6:00 tonight. Some basics: 1. This is not the original game. You can't take a hundred blows to the head anymore, and you won't have much time to correct mistakes. Combat is quick and brutal, and there's no difficulty to adjust. You're going to have to take it seriously more often than not, and keep your eyes open. 2. Archers will no longer run directly up to you before firing. They will engage you (if they have any choice) from the extent of their range firing arrows that are generally too fast to dodge. If they get the drop on you, and they probably will, expect to have to take cover and figure out where they're firing from before you can kill them. 3. You should learn to block. Blocking is easier to learn than dodging and will get you through a lot of tight spots. Even with a block skill of 0, you still block a fair bit of damage from each hit, making it worth it to work on. 4. Heavy armour is better in the early game, especially for beginners. It's easier to take advantage of the extra protection of heavy armour than the extra mobility of light armour, and low-grade heavy armour is better than low-grade light armour. At the same time, high-grade light and heavy are evenly matched and light has better skill perks, so it's more rewarding to use light armour if you can handle the initial disadvantage. 5. Heavy armour is better for melee on melee and ranged on ranged, where the added protection allows for greater survivability and speed isn't much of an issue. Light armour is better for ranged on melee and melee on ranged, where being faster than your opponent is the key to victory, allowing you to outrun them while shooting back or to catch them before they can kill you. 6. You can't just run everywhere all the time. Fatigue is consumed by running, and it's far more important now than it was before. 7. Magic and armour don't jive well. The penalties are significantly increased, and the wieght of armour increases fatigue usage, which lowers effectiveness further. 8. Don't try to block hammers, or most power attacks. They're likely to stagger you, opening you up to more attacks. 9. Quicksave after every fight. It will save you a lot of time. 10. Healing potions are slow, but they work. They won't bring you right back, but they can save your life if you have time for them to work, but work best at getting you running again between fights.
