Cadaverinc
So after being the completionist that I am, I have come to find (as well as many others) that there is a lot of gold that...uhh...I can bathe in? Alright, with the coming of the Creation Kit, my hope is that someone - or many - develop a mod that inserts quite a few gold dumps/sinks into the game. These outlets for my many dukats preferably don't improve any skills in the game (god forbid it gets any easier*), but simply give some fun/completely-unnecessary ways to spend gold in game. I would prefer they be realistic, or at least keep the spirit of the game. On this note, having completed the Stones of Barenziah quest, I am even more filthily rich. Please. Someone make a gold dump full of awesome. Super ballin' medieval houses. A horse that is covered in diamonds (Lord knows I have plenty of them). Weapons that make cinematic kills super gory. Something. * I have P.I.S.E. installed, as well as Deadly Dragons. I have also tooled with Extreme Difficulty. Make a mod that makes the game harder in general while your at it! thedemoninside
I have an idea for a mod that allows youto purchase shops for decent amounts of money, and then you can collect 10% of your purchase of that business once per week, and after 10 times collecting, you start turning a profit. This is just the first part of the mod. It is something to keep your gold flowing in and out of your pocket to keep things interesting. Now here is the fun part. Once you own a set number of shops from each of the major cities, you get a letter of recommendation from each Jarl for you to become a Jarl of your own hold. After you have all the letters, a contractor appears in a large empty section of space somewhere in Skyrim (havent chosen a spot yet) Here you pay the man to build your keep. I'm thinking something like 25-50k, and after a week, it is built. From there you can build walls, each of the different catagories of shops, and hire guards. I'm thinking you could also make a follower a housecarl that stays in your keep. All of this serves as an end game gold sink and gives a feeling of accomplishment for the end game. To further spice things up, I'm thinking there could be raids on your little spot of land by bandits, or whatever opposing side to the group you chose to ally with in the civil war. You could be required to build a certain number of weapons/armor to outfit your guards to defend against the attacks. Once a guard dies, you have to hire another one and outfit him again. I plan on making the first part of the mod, unless someone offers to do it for me, but the second part is beyond my knowledge and allotment of free time to make. I also don;t do voice work. I think it would be incredibly awesome when finished though.
Cadaverinc
That is a fantastic idea for a mod. I would love to see it come to fruition. I absolutely love Skyrim, but not having anything to do in it really at this point is sort of sad. A mod like this would definitely fix this issue for me, and likely many others. It does seem like quite the undertaking, though. I'm sure the Creation Kit would make it much more viable.
jimhsu
Personally I'm looking at the possibility of implementing a real economy system based on real goods as a gold sink/generator. Here's how I kind of see this idea, in order: 1. Banking system. Branches in major cities, accounts, fixed interest.2. A marketplace/commodity exchange. Has certain goods (grains, fruit, wool, ores, etc) that fluctuate in prices randomly. Investable.3. Companies. A supply and demand system. Left Hand Mine would have a demand for workers, and a supply of iron ores. Warmaiden's would have a high demand for ores, wood, and supply weapons. Dragonsreach would have a high demand for weapons/armor, and supply guards (possibly for the mine). Naturally, the player would also be a company. (and own shares of other companies as well).4. Generation of trade caravans to carry goods according to the supply and demand system. Based on Warmaiden's demand for iron ores, all mines nearby are contacted. If Left Hand happens to have the lowest price (calculated by a travel/cost factor), a caravan would be generated from Markath to travel to Whiterun). This caraven could, of course, be raided, including by the player.5. A derivatives market on top of all that; Warmaiden's would be a purchaser of iron futures (due to demand for ores) while Left Hand Mine would be a seller. This may involve seriously complicated math calculations (think integrals, partial differential equations, linear algebra) to pull off. Massive profiteering opportunities as well as risk. I want a game where I can scream "buy 20 May iron ore calls, strike price 75, for 1.10 limit" and actually have it be something tangible. But that might just be me.6. Taking the whole thing online. Imagine a global commodities exchange market for goods in Skyrim around the world, with prices set by individual players. Not at all practical, but the idea is out there. I don't know if I will have enough time to even get to Step 3. But we shall see. Edited February 2, 2012 by jimhsu
