bben46
Different people like different mods for different reasons. Check out the top 100 list. Those are the most popular. Start with OBMM & OBSE. these aren't really mods but utility programs that make it easier to work with mods. OBSE is required by some of the newer mods. Of you try to run the mod without it, Oblivion crashes on startup. OBMM allows you more control over your mods, like load order and easy mod enable and disable, plus a fair save game manager and some other useful stuff, For me, must have mods are a good body mod, there are several and it a matter of personal taste. Glenvar Castle, Verona House Bloodlines, Dude where's my horse, Denock arrows, Rhianna, Ivellon, speedy depositing, Reznod mannequins, Clocks of Cyrodiil, Alive waters, Ancient Towers, Quick Clothes and Spells, Midas spells, The lost spires and at least 50 more. OBMM makes it easy to disable any you don't like. I recommend NOT installing all at once. the small ones do about 5, then test them, for the large ones, just one at a time and test before adding another one. jojo man
Bben has excellent suggestions, both regarding mod instilation and particular mods. I'd also suggest Rumare castlehttp://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=7253 and Hoarfrost Castlehttp://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=14714 and if you need any companions, well, look no furter than Divine Avengers. Here are a few I use:http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12048http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12082http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15351http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12184 Hope this helps and have fun!!! DarkWarrior45
The mods that I can't live without are Qarl's Texture pack 3 (get the redimized version if you don't have a geforce 8800/9800) along with Depth of Field, Deadly Reflex, OOO, MMM, and Blood and Mud. DarkWarrior45
Thanks guys, btw , what Version of Oblivion should I use ? patch 1.1 or 1.2 ? there's different thoughts about that. People such as Vagrant0 do not like the 1.2 patch. I do, because it eliminates the bugs that I personally come accross. Basically it's, "what set of bugs do I want to put up with?"; in a sense it's a trade off between bugs. But of course I also run Shivering Isles, so I don't have much choice anyway. bben46
When you get into patches, you have opened up a new can of worms. Some mods will not work without the latest patch. However, there are actually several patches, and they are not compatible with each other and possibly not with your version. First, The patches will not work with either cracked versions or D2D versions of Oblivion. Second, If you have one of the older Shivering Isles patches, You must reinstall Oblivion without it to upgrade to the latest patches. Don't use any of the older SI patches, only the latest one. Third, there is a bug, that I think is only in the GOTY (Game of the Year version) that will give you purple ground if you install the wrong patch. Then, Only use ONE patch. If you have Shivering Isles installed, Only use the latest SI patch and NONE of the Oblivion patches. If you do not have SI, there are 2 English version patches - UK & US. be sure to use the one for your version of Oblivion as they are different. (There is only one version of the SI patch for both English versions.)

cpoindex
This is a pretty old conversation, but I'd like to re-open it. I find some of my very favorite mods when they are suggested by other people, and I especially like to hear about favorites that are more "underground" (great mods that somehow don't make it to the top 100). A few of my favorites: -Campfire Behavior-Inebriation-Harvest Flora-No Psychic Guards
