Installed Climates of Tamriel, game locking on load screen...

Never loads, and is locked up so bad the caps lock doesn't even respond apparently.

I can hit CTRL-ALT-DEL and start Task Manager, but it won't let me actually switch to Task Manager. Nothing short of actually logging off and logging back in suffices to shut the process down.

Yes, I have a long-ish list of mods installed, but I didn't see a single mod listed as incompatible on CoT's Nexus page. Comments are not allowed on the mod's Nexus page, and I saw no topic for it on the Skyrim boards, so this is my last option before just uninstalling.

CoT is one of the most downloaded and endorsed mods for Skyrim ever. If it was a problem specific to that mod, people would know about it. So it's probably an installation or compatibility issue.

When exactly does the game crash? Right after the Bethesda logo or on loading a save?

Crash on start usually means missing master file. Check, if you got all the necessary master files. CoT 5 definitely requires Skyrim and Dragonborn - not sure about the other two DLCs. You can use Wrye bash if you have it or NMM to see, if CoT lacks any masters.

Crashes on load might have different causes, before I go into that I need some more information. Also a load order would be helpful.

Sorry, I should have been more specific; the game boots, and locks up while loading a save. I have all DLCs. I have a number of mods active at the moment, although not a spectacularly large number. I'll post load order when I get to my computer.

Yeah, CoT is apparently very common, so I was surprised to see that level of problem, and especially surprised to see comments shut off at the Nexus page.

Looking over my mod list, I'm guessing that it's Realistic Lighting Overhaul that is conflicting with Climates of Tamriel. I'll have to investigate that.

Thanks for the update. It's somewhat strange nevertheless. From my experience, "conflicts" between weather and lighting mods often lead to weird visuals, but rarely to CTDs. But glad you got Cot working!

TBH, I only used interior Lighting mods together with CoT. Exterior lighting tweaks (apart from Lanterns of Skyrim - if you like it) aren't really needed with CoT. CoT - together with an ENB - IMHO gives you great looks outdoors.

If you want some "bugfixing" for exterior lights, you can try "Relighting Skyrim": http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/17609/?

But as I said - I don't think you really need an exterior lighting mod anyway.

Interiors are a different story. But despite of what is often said, CoT works fine with the common Lighting mods like RLO (interiors), ELFX (i DID use the Enhancer without any issues though I was told not to do so...) and Relighting Skyrim. Just don't install the "warm" or "cold" interior patches from CoT - they will cause weird results when used together with interior lighting mods.

I still haven't gotten CoT to work - that might have been the source of the issue. I'll reinstall it without using the interior patches.
