FOMM is crashing whenever i activate a mod.

Ive been googling this question for 2 hours. Ive found multiple topics, but all went unsolved and abandoned. I have tried everything i know, but im going insane. I downloaded a nice list of mods for New Vegas, and i cant activate any of them. Some include the weather mod, the 2 huge gun mods that add a ton of new ones, the MoMod, and a few more. I cant check any of them in FOMM without it crashing. Even when i check the Honest Hearts DLC, it crashes. All it says is Error: Something bad has happened. What am i missing?

Also to add, the official start up, under data files, when i try to check them there, they just instantly uncheck after i hit OK.

1. What folder did you install to?

2. You sure, you've installed FOMM giving the correct path to your FNV folder?

3. Did you try re-downloading and re-installing all files?

4. If the answer to 1 is c:\program files\...., have you already delt with the UAC incompability of Win Vista/7?

1. At the moment i have it in program files, opposed to program files x86. Because when i try to install it in x86 comes up with errors, i dont know why.

2. Do you mean when it asks "where would i like to store FONV mods" i selected my data folder.

3.Many MANY times

4. maybe thats it. Although i have tried it in random folders like documents folder. But supposing thats it. Is there a guide for that? Cause i am running vista 64bit

First uninstall every FNV utility like FOMM, BOSS, etc..

Then move your steam folder to a location that isn't protected by UAC, which is basically any manually created folder and any partition aside from c:.

E.g. you can choose c:\games, d:\<any folder>...

Follow the steps suggested in this tutorial:

Then you can install utilities again.

Its just wierd cause i used to be able to play with mods. But its been a few months since i played and now this bs. Oh well. Thanks anyways.

If you want to return to FNV in the future, give as much info as possible (patch vesion, load order, install path, NVSE version, etc.), should you still encounter errors.

And you could post screenshots detailing your problems.

Something I've forgotten to ask: have you tried running a freshly installed, completely unmodded game?

Alright im relaxed, ill give it a bit more time if you want to help. I am not sure what screenshots would help, since its all generic errors. My install path is now c:/steam/steamapps/common/fallout new vegas. Patch version should be whatever most current is, i cant find the number. NVSE is up to date. But i just reinstalled completely. FoMM still crashes on start up when i install it to program files x86. It also crashes with a different error when installed to just program files folder. So, i dont know what to do about that. But i am now on a fresh install.

Edit: Know what, f*** FoMM. I just tried nexus mod manager. It seems more stable. But it does still crash upon applying a mod, even if its the Honest Hearts DLC. But installing mods sometimes works, but on some i get an access denied error, to c:/users/snake/appdata/local/falloutnv/plugins.txt I have tried running as administrator. I dont understand why this game has become such a pain in the ass to mod. Ive been modding skyrim just fine with anything, including this nexus mod manager.

Problem is, FOMM has to be installed with admin priviledges. Most changes such programs make to files installed in UAC-protected folders will require your approval (you have a dialogue box popping up).

FOMM won't bring up a dialogue, which should be considered the same as having clicked "no" by the system, but this won't work for all programs.

Deactivate all mods, start a game using the standard loader. Unmodded games don't require any kind of mod manager/load order sorter.

You can use the standard loader to activate all DLCs (HH in your case). If you can then start a game and get the HH messages after loading a save/starting a new game, probably installing FOMM to a different folder will do the trick (install to "c:\tools" or anything else, that might come in handy).

I have tried installing FoMM everywhere. I have even tried turning off UAC. Nothing is working. My mind is completely blown. i want to play with mods so bad but i just cant. It used to work, it works in skyrim, but not with fallout new vegas anymore. Can i roll back a fallout update, maybe thats a problem, because it used to mod fine like i said. I am running out of options.
