wizzydizzy
There should be a message telling you HH has been activated and your level cap has increased by 5.If you didn't get this message after starting your new game, then HH wasn't installed or activated properly. snake4769
Oh HH raised the lvl cap? Then i do believe that was working then. But still no mods. Ive never had this much trouble modding ever. Ive fought nasty viruses off easier than this.
wizzydizzy
Any DLC, except GRA and Courier's stash, will raise the level cap by 5 to a total of 50 with all of them installed. First of all, reactivate UAC. Now that Steam is installed to another directory, it won't interfere with mods. Uninstall FOMM and manually delete any folder left (sometimes folders containing user settings, inicialization files, etc. aren't deleted). But do make sure, they were only used by FOMM.You can scan the registry for remaining keys, but unless you're absolutely sure, what you are doing, don't delete any yet. Entries pointing to the installation directory or files therein will be overwritten upon reinstall.Install FOMM as you did with Steam, use a manually created folder that's not a subdirectory of any original windows folder.Use FOMM while being logged in as admin. snake4769
Heh, i already did all of that. Well i havent turned UAC on yet. But i have cleaned out the folders and registries. See why i am so frustrated?
St3nd3r
I am having the exact same problem as the OP, I've tried everything including disabling UAC, changing the ini file to non read only, installing fomm in safe mode, running as administrator, running in compatibility mode, etc etc etc. I can't find any documentation about my problem apart from this thread, and nobody seems to know how to fix it. I cannot run mods from the data files utility and i cannot get fomm to run without crashing. I really want to play the wealth of great looking mods at Nexus, but I can't get a single one to work. It is driving me nuts and very frustrating, can someone help me? Edited January 31, 2012 by St3nd3r
wizzydizzy
Your best bet is looking at the original FOMM thread. http://newvegas.nexu...le.php?id=36901 Edited January 31, 2012 by wizzydizzy
snake4769
Appreciate the help wizzy, im glad i atleast know its not just only me, just a select few who are really unlucky with this game like st3nd3r. St3nd3r
Ok, I seem to be making progress. In crashdump.txt, which is found in [user]/documents/FOMM, it tells me: Access to the path 'C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\FalloutNV\plugins.txt' is denied. I made the file in question (plugins.txt) non read-only, and stopped it from being hidden so FOMM could find it. I'm no longer getting the "something bad has happened" error, and I can now start New Vegas from FOMM with the mods enabled. Some of them aren't working, but a few of them are, which is a better result than I was getting. It seems that FOMM wasn't able to find plugins.txt because it was a hidden file. I can't believe it took me this long to figure it out. I'll keep this thread posted on whether I'm able to get all my downloaded mods working. I could of sworn i tried that, but ill give it another shot sometime soon. I have to redownload the game since i ended up deleting it. : / Thanks for the tip though, keep on keepin on.
