Werne
I managed to get the game to run high quality textures on my comp which is barely over the minimum system requirements to run Skyrim so you can imagine how long have I been playing with Skyrim's ini files. Anyway, when I switched the settings to high I found out that bodies and body armor textures are low quality, although hands, feet and head along with gauntlets, boots and headgear have high quality textures o_O. I'd post a pic but I can't upload it, I have some connection problems. I tried to delete the ini files and let the game generate new ones but the problem still persists, even with game-generated ini files. I have no body mods or mesh/texture replacers installed, I only have a couple of mods I made (esp plugins and my weapon models) so I have no idea what's causing this. If anyone knows how to fix this, please help, even if you don't know, at least throw in some suggestions.
Werne
Update time, I've got pics now . I've put them in spoilers cause there's a lot of them. First, here's an example of my problem on the Whiterun guard: See how his hands and helmet look good but his arms and body armor don't, that is the problem I have. All bodies are low quality while everything else looks great. Now, here's my character without an outfit: Hands and face look great but the body doesn't, same problem like the guard. And here's an example of my character in Ebony Armor, still with the same problem: And that's that, I really don't know how to fix this :(. Any help is appreciated. warhounder
I have been having the exact same issue for a few weeks now and still have not found a solution, I have reinstalled skyrim many times(deleted all files even ini's) reinstalled video drivers (multiple versions old and beta). The issue started when I updated my video drivers to the latest drivers ATI had, but I rolled them back and still get bad textures as in the screenshot above. Even when I install a hi-res body mod they look like the setting is stuck on low when I have checked many times it is not... It makes the game unplayable for me as everyone I see in the game make me cringe at the bad textures....
Werne
Your comment made me dig through my graphics card settings and I figured out what the problem is. Since I didn't have ATI Catalyst Control Center I installed it and played around with the settings. It was the Mipmap Detail Level, it was set to High Performance. If you move it to High Quality the textures become normal instead of being low quality. Just raise the Mipmap Detail Level and it should look much better.
