Rennn Posted January 30, 2012 Share Posted January 30, 2012 Right now in Skyrim, you have two options for making your shadows look pretty; either set a giant shadow resolution, or turn off shadows at a distance.Now, at most ranges, 4096 shadows get the job done without the player noticing any pixelation. Up close, and on your character's body, 4096 shadows are terrible unless your shadow draw distance is 1000 or less. I wonder, would it be possible to make Skyrim use one shadow resolution for world shadows, and another for shadows mapped to characters? It's possible to turn off character self-shadowing in the .ini, so there must be a difference between land shadows and character shadows that can be exploited here. Thoughts, or suggestions?
