Returning after years, what fixes and mods are needed to play without major bugs.

So been years getting back into the DA Story and game's and remembered that Dragon Age Origins had a lot of unfixed bugs and issues which modder's use to have fixes and patches for. So now that I am coming back after all these years I am trying to find and reinstall the handful of mods which fix and restore things that make the game play right and playing less stressful due to knowing many the issues which would potentially create problems are no longer an issue.

Can any one provide me a list or a link to the still working still usable mods and fixes that one would use now adays?

I hope this is the right forum thread for this as I am unsure if it is the proper place to ask or not.

Well, I'd start by pointing you to Qwinn's Unofficial DA:O Fix Pack v2.0. But see the Qwinn's Unofficial Fix Pack v2.0 thread, now up to 32 33 pages, all worth reading! v3.0 is in progress and you really might want to wait for that. (Qwinn says maybe three more months...)

Otherwise, and leaving aside all the appearance and "kewl gear" mods, there's really only one significant one.

That one is: Dragon Age Rules FixPack.

Unless you're a Morrimancer, in which case you'll want the MRP. And there are other ones that "enhance" the romance with all three of the other possible LIs as well. (And if you're into cartoon nudity, you'll want NBaio.)

Other, more limited, (to a specific character or situation) fixes can be found by using the Advanced Search function on the DAO Mods site and putting "Fix" in the "File name contains" field. (For example, I use the one to fix Sigrun's PQ in DA:Awakening.)

Other mods affecting gameplay that I use regularly are: "Extra Dog Slot", "Full Combatant Dog", Anytime World Map, and all of Follow the Gourd's mods; FtG UI Mod, FtG Quickbar, and FtG Codex ToC.

Some will recommend "Improved Atmosphere", but I can't abide the way it breaks other mods and makes saves unloadable if you ever remove it. Plus, I just don't care one way or the other about many of the "improvements" it provides.

I use Improved Atmosphere, and my personal policy with it is this: if any mod ever conflicts with it, then the other mod wins. I search my override folder for the conflicting files, and remove the version from IA. IA is very, very useful, but it's also modular and thus very easy to personalize.

Whenever something conflicts with it, I let the other mod win. Usually, the other mod is more specialized, and provides a more interesting version of whatever IA's fix was. Still, IA is extremely useful to me and I like it very much.
