smetzler
I know the Skyrim CK should be coming out soon but I can't help but stay attached to all the mods I have for Oblivion. I want to make some myself, simple mods that add in new weapons, ingredients, etc. to the world just to make treasure hunting more interesting. Which leaves me with a few questions. I was thinking of having more ingredients with more effects and I can see that in the CK it allows you to add stuff like Summon Lich or Disintegrate Weapon. If it's so simple to make ingredients with these effects how come no one has ever done it before? If I made a potion of Summon Lich, would that count as a poison or a potion? WarRatsG
First off, welcome to the world of modding :) Not a bad idea to have new types of potions I think. Some exotic effects can go a long way to adding variety to an otherwise bland part of Oblivion. As for your question... I don't think Summon Lich is a negative effect. I've seen Summon Dremora Lord in a potion, so I think it would be ok.For future reference, the CS itself will tell you if your created concoction is a potion or poison. When you are adding effects to a potion/poison, there is a little section on the left with all of the misc data (names, weight, etc) - in that little section you will see something like this... Poison? YesOr maybePoison? No I'm sure you can figure out what it is trying to tell you :)
David Brasher
It is easy to add new weapons to the game that use vanilla Oblivion models. You can give them new names and new stats. But if you want brand new weapons no one has ever seen before, you will have to learn to use things like Blender and Gimp and Nifskope along with the CS. Modeling is hard enough that most modders never learn how to do it. But if you have the will, you can learn to do this. If you make new ingredients with new effects, you will need to figure out how to add them to the game. All the existing plants and creatures already have ingredients you can harvest from them. So these are some options I can think of:(1) Creatures and plants have more than one ingredient you can harvest from them, the new ingredients being the second ingredient you harvest from them.(2) The new ingredients can be bought from venders.(3) The new ingredients are in treasure chests.(4) The new ingredients are laying around loose in the world.(5) There are retextured or new modeled plants and creatures to get the new ingredients from. Pokegami
Nice idea. Maybe have a summon atronach effect on the various salts.
