Adding New Texture to Armor Results in Neck Gap

Update: Problem Solved

I am trying to figure out how to implement a new texture on to existing mage robes models. I've never worked with armor before, but it seemed fairly straightforward since all I'm doing is changing a texture on the existing apprentice clothes.

I went through the process of duplicating/ renaming the vanilla nifs associated with the apprentice robes then linking up the new textures in nifscope. I have both the _0 and _1 version of the nif in my directory which I though would address the weight variances (though there is no way to actually add the _0 nif to the armor model in the CK that I can see). I created the armor and the addon in the CK by duplicated and renaming existing apprentice robes and then adding my new nifs. I placed the armor into an outfit I created for my npc and added the outfit to the actor. (The NPC is just a regular CK created NPC no sliders, modification mods). It's a male High Elf with a weight of 40. Now, if I place the NPC weight at 100, I have no problem. However, anything else and there is a neck gap. Altmer are on the lean side, so I don't want a High Elf NPC with 100 weight.

Might anyone have insight to my problem? Help is much appreciated.
