Clearly I'm Doing Something Wrong

hey guys! I'm really new to modding, and I've been running into a lot of issues. I've been scourging the forums and Youtube for videos to help, and I'm honestly not sure what I'm doing wrong.

so, first off, none of the mods I'm downloading are downloading as .dazip files. most come in .zip or .7z files. I have changed the extensions for all the mods to .dazip in order to run them through daupdater, but it only worked for two of them (extra dog slot and the grey wardens of ferelden armor, but only the main file, not the core). for every other mod it says 'error'. I've tried extracting them directly into the override file and it doesn't appear to be working there, either.

for one of the .7z files (All in One Hairstyles I think is the name), I did attempt to run through chargen complier, but it didn't show up either.

ANYWAYS, my point is, I really, genuinely do not know what to do here. most of them did not work through DAModder, nor DAOMod Manager. I could really use some help if someone has the time!

Many mods aren't .dazip files and should just go straight into the override folder.

Download the readme for the DAO Mod manager. It has a step by step picture guide for getting mods working, both .dazip and stuff for the override folder. It also has you package the mods in the override folder so they don't overwrite each other's contents all willy nilly. The mods will still override each other, but it notifies you, then you can try and edit the conflict or ignore it.

It sounds like you have mixed up something in the process of extracting mods into the override folder. Follow the readme's instructions and see if that helps.

I am not sure, whether I understood your request correctly or not. So forgive me, please, in case, that I am bringing coals to Newcastle!

In generally, there are two sorts of mods:

1. Override-mods:

- unzip the downloaded file

- as a result you will get a folder

- put this whole folder into your override (not the unzipped file itself)

2. Dazip-mods:

- [take the downloaded file itself or] unzip the downloaded file

- as a result you will get a .dazip file

- use this .dazip file with the DAModder (don't put it into the override)

Unfortunately, do not all modders give some instructions...
