Brand new to the mods

Hi and welcome to the nexus :)

The top 100 mod list would probably be a good place to start. You can sort it to only show the most popular armor, weapons and gameplay mods, etc:

http://dragonage.nexusmods.com/downloads/top/alltime.php

You can also check the "mod of the month" list here:

http://dragonage.nexusmods.com/downloads/filesofthemonth.php

Otherwise, here are some of my favorite mods:

More hairstyles Adds new hairstyles (duh!)

Runic armor Adds a new good-looking armor set.

Skip the fade Skips the fade, while still letting you get all the loot from that place.. Nothing you want on your first playthrough, but most of us got tired of that part after the 3rd playthrough.

Extra dog slot Allows you to have 3 companions + the dog during your questing.

DAModder Software that allows for quicker and easier mod install than DAupdater.

Lock bash Allows you to open locked containers without having a rogue in the party. However, there is a chance that you will destroy the loot in the process. According to the author thwas already among the gamefiles, but Bioware inactivated it in the final game.

UDK Allows you to tint (change the colour) of your armor and weapons in-game whenever you want.

And finally, some shameless advertising for my own mods that can be found in my signature... :whistling:

Here's a list of mods I use in each game. I'm not linking them (too many). You can simply search for these mods by typing in the DANexus Search field.

Party NPCs[/b]

Advanced Tactics: very useful; learning how to use tactics is very beneficial to assigning certain actions to your party members including the main char

Alistair Dialog Patch: what it says

Character Respecialization: don't like the stats/skills/etc of your main char or party NPC(s)? Then find a stationary crow (there's one in camp) and change them

Dialogue Tweaks: essential; also allows Leliana to repeat her camp fire song "In Uthenera"

Expanded Inventory: 125 items

Extended Dog Talents: nice upgrade for what your dog (Mabari Hound) can now do

Extra Dog Slot: allows your dog to be taken along as a 5th team member; very useful

Full Combatant Dog: meaner and nastier; a real warrior

Less Barking Dog: less irritating dog in camp

Less Blood: what it syas

Mabari Wares: Upgraded armor for your dog

Resized Shale: bigger, more imposing

Shale Retextured HD: better textures; more rock-like

Extended Shale Talents: more skills for the giant

Face Morphs (Changing faces of Party NPCs - some of my favorite .mor files)

A Better Wynne: younger, prettier (I guess the elder is using vanity magic to change her appearance)

Alistair Face Morph: the one created by Tori

Alternate Sten Face: darker face, corn roll hair

Elegant and Seductive Leliana: I use the Long Sacred Ashes Hair option (IMO the most beautiful Leliana face mod)

Flemeth the Witch: Morrigan's mother; much more ancient appearance

New Appearance - Morrigan: (IMO the most beautiful Morrigan face mod)

General Population NPCs (Your char & party members, too)

Elf Female Proportions Fix: now your female Elves won't look like linebackers from the waist up (like men, as originally designed)

Human Female Proportions Fix: now your female Humans won't look like linebackers from the waist up (like men, as originally designed)

Natural Bodies All in One: allows body parts to be resized, textured, etc, by clicking on selections you want

My mod list keeps on going. It's too long to include everything here.

Personal opinions abound. Here are some of mine regarding the list above:

This one can be a real pia for a newbie. Especially if uninstalled later...

Alistair Dialog Patch: what it says

Yup, useful. Restores some dialogue options that exist in the game, but were cut from (or not correctly implemented) in the final release.

Character Respecialization: don't like the stats/skills/etc of your main char or party NPC(s)? Then find a stationary crow (there's one in camp) and change them

Not for first playthrough (imo). Need to understand the limitations before selecting the cheats.

My list starts at the third post, but there are some others' lists there as well.
