tomtheclone
I'm looking to make a spell that adds a moderate amount of damage resistance (physical and non-physical), but for balancing I need to know how it interacts with armor, magic resistance, and specific elemental resistances. I know that Dragonhide sets physical damage take to 20% and sets armor to 0, which seems a bit odd, though I can see some very sensible reasons for simply wanting to set physical damage reduction. I also know that armor is capped at 80%. I know that magic resistance and elemental resistance are capped at 85% and stack multiplicative. So with a magic and shock resist of both 50%, you take 25% damage from shock spells. My plan is to have the spell add a perk that has "mod incoming damage" like Dragonhide, but without reducing the armor. To make matters more complicated, it scales with the number of spell school masteries or points invested in those spell schools you have. So I guess I also need to know if/how it scales with itself. The point of the spell is to make casting much harder, but reward the player for "giving up" magic with increasingly high damage reduction (both physical and non-physical)
