Steam version, odd folder setup

Steam > steamapps > common > skyrim...

I know this is the directory for the game if you get the Steam version, but the contents within this folder are a lot different then what a lot of mod readme's suggest. Once you click that folder, you get these:

Data

DirectX10

DoNotFX

relists

Skyrim (only one file here)

VCRedist

Those are the folders. Below that are a list of .dll files (d3d9, atimgpud, steam_api), some configuation files, a few text documents, and .exe's.

Some of the mods do not use Nexus Mod Manager. So I have to manually install except I have no idea where to put my things. One suggested I needed to go to skyrim > data > textures (or something). But these are the only things in my Data folder.

Interface

Strings

Video

a bunch of .bsa files and 2 .esm files.

Nothing relating to "textures". Everything seems vacant. Does anybody have the Steam version and has managed to upload the "Skyboost" mod? I could use the FPS, since I am running on a 1.77GHz laptop with a ATI5650.

How can you not have the steam version, is there any other?

Anyways, to answer your question: If a certain data/subfolder isn't there,

you just create it and it shall work.

On a side note: I never used Nexus Mod Manager and I never will.

I like to control my folders content all the way. So much can go wrong in automated processes.

If you are running an official Steam version then you should already be updated to the 1.4 patch which makes Skyboost and Tesval obsolete because they will not give as much performance increase as the new patch. If you are running the 1.4 version they can negatively impact performance.
