vurt
What's the best way today to edit and export skyrim meshes? I'm not up to date.. I've been using Blender 2.49b, export to FO3 mesh, import to 3DS, export to Skryim .nif. Is there something less cumbersome or is it still the best way? SineWaveDrox
I usually import the .nif to Blender 2.49b, save that as a .blend file, open that .blend in a newer blender, like 2.72, do my editing, save that as a legacy .blend, open that in 2.49b, and export that to a .nif, then adjust anything that needs to be adjusted in Nifskope. Hanaisse
Assuming you mean original Skyrim and not Special Edition, this is my process. Similar to yours but there's no need for 3DS.
vurt
Ok, thanks. I'll stick to what i've been doing then, seems more simple (im more used to it).
tomtheclone
I've been loading nif files into Outfit Studio, exporting to obj, and then importing that into the latest version of Blender. Then I do it all again in reverse. The textures get wiped, so you need to reapply them (a minute or two with nifscope), but the UV map remains intact.
