clawcity
G'day guys, I'm going through a whole butt load of mods my brother wants on his Fallout NV and I've run into some confusing issues. The problem doesn't start straight away either, it doesn't seem to kick in until you've run around for a bit. When I hit Esc and choose Save, all the save slots say "Corrupt". There's also texture issues. My weapon turns invisible and loses it's firing sound and my body has a giant exclamation point around it. Other textures have also been replaced by the exclamation, eg some stuff in Doc Mitchell's house including his nurses (mod) entire body except like her head, hands and feet. I also stumbled across a corpse I'd raided earlier that had turned invisible except for head, hands and feet.I've tried deactivating the most recent mods added, which appeared to fix it. But then when I started reactivating them to find the culprit by trial & error the results were conflicting. I'd add some mods, get the error, remove them, problem gone, add some different mods, problem returns. Has anyone run across problems like this before? Could someone point a finger at a possible culprit? Is it possible the cause is the sheer number of mods being applied?
Quetzlsacatanango
You probably have too many mods enabled. It is the number, not which specific mods you have.
clawcity
Nuts. I don't suppose there's a setting I can adjust that will allow more? Or is it more dependant on hardware?
Quetzlsacatanango
It seems to be system dependent somehow but I don't know what exactly. Merge some with fnv plugin utility and you'll be good.
clawcity
I was reading in the FNV Plugin comments that it's best to edit the mods with FNVEdit first so they all have the same master list. Since I've never used FNVEdit, any tips?
Quetzlsacatanango
I don't see why that would be necessary.
clawcity
Apparently there are issues when merging mods that use different master lists. Is this not the case?
Quetzlsacatanango
I can only speak for myself, I have never had any problems with it whatsoever.
clawcity
Merging the mods seems to have done the trick. Thanks very much.
max20077
if you have FNVedit also try creating a patch because a lot of mods conflict over thing and overwrite and that can slow down the game or cause CTDs
