Borgut1337
now with the patch, my game won't start. When I launch the game I first get the bethesda logo etc, then see the menu for about a second, but before I'm able to press ''continue'' I get a crash already. Tried deleting Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini, and also tried launching without any mods enabled, nothing helps. Also verified cache integrity with steam. Any suggestions? Kalimni
See if you can roll back to the previous patch: Turn of auto update, and place steam in offline mode, then Right-click skyrim folder, properties, previous versions, and see if there is a folder in there from a couple of days ago. Also, make sure all of your drivers are up to date, and use the most recent beta drivers for your video card.
Borgut1337
nope when I go to properties, previous version it says that no previous versions are available. And I doubt it'd be driver related seeing how I did play over 200 hours without any problems in previous versions, but will give it a try anyway. EDIT: Already have latest version of drivers, nothing works Edited February 2, 2012 by Borgut1337
ProjectVRD
complete reinstallation may be required, but before that instead of using 'Continue' try loading one of your earlier saves.
Borgut1337
complete reinstallation may be required, but before that instead of using 'Continue' try loading one of your earlier saves. I didn't actually get the time to press continue, already crashed before that. But found the problem, the problem was that the game was trying to use a .wav I had in my skyrim\data\music\special folder instead of a .xwm which it's supposed to use for playing the main theme in the main menu. I renamed the .wav file to something else so the game would instead find the .xwm file in the .bsa again, and that fixed it :)
