Swiftarm
I want to reinstall Skyrim so as to wipe clean the mods that I previously installed. Yes, I could find each mod I installed and follow the uninstall steps to do this, but I'd prefer to just start from scratch because I figure it would be more simple than hunting down each folder separately, and I'm not even entirely sure I know which files were mods and which weren't. It seems like it will be easier to just do a complete reinstall of the game. My question being, how exactly do I reinstall but keep my current saves? I've seen some people that you just back up the files usually located at C:\Documents and Settings\<Username>\Documents\My Games\Skyrim\Saves, and I've also heard that Steam Cloud will automatically back them up as well. Is this correct? I also want to make sure that uninstall Skyrim like any other program will properly uninstall the mods as well. I figure it would, but some confirmation would be nice. Rennn
To keep your saves, find them in the Documents directory that you posted (C:\Documents and Settings\<Username>\Documents\My Games\Skyrim\Saves) , and copy them to a safe place. That's all that's necessary to keep your save files. After you reinstall, put them in the Saves folder again.

Un-installing/deleting the skyrim folder will not effect your save games as they are stored in 'my documents', just make a backup of your saves in case you want to do a full uninstall or simply delete all folders except for 'strings' from within skyrim/data along with any *.esp files to remove all mods as original game data is stored in *.BSA archives.
