wpphili
Bonjour, with the tons of mods, out there, that affect textures and lighting I'm desperate to find something to my liking. It comes a time at which you have no idea what to install to make the world more interesting. I have tried some, screwed up my installation with other but never quite found the ideal setup. I have found that something, texture enhancement achieve the opposite of their goal. Yes, things might look better but it can also make detail harder to spot, item harder to spot also. I'm also having a very hard time finding the correct lighting. Too dark, too bright. I had an issue where, in a clear sunny day, the wasteland was beautiful but details in the shadow were simply pitch black (my main issue I guess)! I have been reviwing videos on youtube but most of them are years old already or reffers mods that don't exist anymore (Resurect, for example or True Eyes). What are the mods you are using that affect the texture, graphic and lighting and why, what was your goal when choosing those mods?
Moraelin
Personally I play with the vanilla lighting, except with the fog, blur and depth of field turned off. For textures, I just use Beth's high res textures. Honestly, unless your monitor is higher res than 4k, you don't really need higher res textures than that. panurgy
I'm a big fan of ENB presets. There are some amazing mods out there and IMO ENB is the only thing that can really do lighting justice. SweetFx is pretty much a real-time photo editor, and ReShade does some cool stuff, but isn't game/engine specific. ENB actually hooks into the game engine, and understands details about the scene, the sky, clouds, sun, distances between objects, etc. (Though many of the best mods use both ENB and ReShade.) If you really want control over lighting, try out a few different ENB presets and learn to tweak them to fit your preferences. I tend to switch between different presets every week or two, switching to a different style to suit my mood. I have custom tweaks for a few of the presets I frequently return to, like grimwolf's Institute ASD or Decent ENB. For mods, including texture mods, this steam post is a good place to start. Reddit has many similar threads that are worth searching through, though AFAIK there's nothing as organized as the steam guide. Vanilla Fallout looks decent, but some of Bethesda's textures are blurry or low resolution. IMO even 2k texture mods can significantly improve the look of the game. panurgy
Just noticed this great post (2nd one from the top) for texture recommendations by WhiskeyRiver2. It's a much faster read than the steam guide.
