StahlSentinel Posted April 4, 2017 Posted April 4, 2017 So I've been considering getting into modding, and figured why not start off by diversifying automatron robot weaponry a bit? After all, on the ballistic front there aren't many options.Unfortunately, I have little to no experience in modding and would appreciate any help that I can get in working out how to add new automatron weapon systems. Is this running before I can walk? Very probably, but what the hell, it's worth a shot.
Greslin Posted April 4, 2017 Posted April 4, 2017 (edited) I have no idea, but if it really interests you, go for it. You'll learn a lot getting it working. My advice would be to try and find other mods that do things similar to what you want to do. Download and install them, take a good look at the ESPs in FO4Edit. If there are scripts involved, get the source (either from the author or by decompiling) and start figuring out how they work. Most of modding, really, is just extremely determined reverse engineering. You have to be obsessed with figuring out how it all works, unlocking those secrets that others work very hard to hide from you. Learn to pull the problems thoroughly apart, and the solutions suddenly become obvious and simple. Don't let it go until you get it done. Edited April 4, 2017 by Greslin
StahlSentinel Posted April 4, 2017 Author Posted April 4, 2017 Alright, sounds very much do-able. Seeing as I've already found a mod that does what I'm looking to do, I suppose that means I've got a decent start.
StahlSentinel Posted April 5, 2017 Author Posted April 5, 2017 (edited) OK, I have something that should function now, but don't know how to make it buildable within the robot workbench. Is this something to do with script injection, or something else, and if so, how does it work? Edit: Never mind, that seems to be handled automatically. Edited April 6, 2017 by StahlSentinel
