Having trouble getting mods to work

Do you have Windows Vista or Windows 7? That can cause serious problems. If this is your problem, the most effective solution is to reinstall Oblivion to a directory other than "Program Files."

You may wish to write a longer post in which you explain more about what mods you are using, how you installed them, how far along in the installation procedure you got, and what happens when you play-test.

I have windows 7.

The mod i'm trying to use is Set Body TNA BETA so i put the Setbody.esp and the Meshes into the data folder. So I started the game and checked the box by Setbody.esp. And when i go into the game my face is black and hands are pink and if i take off any sort of clothing the part of the body that piece of clothing was covering turns invisible.

It sounds like you have missing textures, or bad meshes. The first thing to check would be to see that all of the textures were installed, and that they were all installed in the right place.

Make sure you downloaded and installed all parts of the file if it is a multipart file or if it has updates and a base file.

The mod in question is a beta, so there is the possibility that there are bugs in it causing some or all of your problems.

If you know how to use NifSkope, you can start opening up the meshes in question to see how they render in that program (whether the bugs are there too as well as in-game) and you can examine the file paths to see where you were supposed to install the textures, or what textures the modder forgot to give you or didn't place in the right directories.

If everything is installed right, and the mod is a good mod that works, then you may be having an archive invalidation issue. A bug in the Oblivion game engine that goes against logic and messes up the game even when you have done everything right. This type of problem usually only occurs when your game is crazily heavily modded.

But you should start out assuming that you have a good mod that you installed wrong. If you prove that the mod is installed right, then you can assume you have a bad mod. And if you prove it is not a bad mod, then you can start worrying about archive invalidation.
