neekee
Hi everyone, Got back to Skyrim after getting a much better rig a few months back. Been a blast to finally be able to mod it extensively but I'm still getting random CTDs and texture errors everynow and then. Maybe it's inherent to modding 32 bits Skyrim but I'd like you guy's expertise. Symptoms: these seem very random. the game can run for hours before any show up or they can happen after a few minutes: - game crashes back to desktop in the middle of action - loading never completes - game freezes - black face on standalone follower and random purple textures: these come and go. changing locations / reloading save eventually fix them. Game settings: All ultra, no FXAA, 1360x768 (need a better monitor now ... ;_; ), windowed mode (cause full screen caused frame drops on certain movements), borderless window with the help of a mod. Rig: - Windows 10 64 bits - Intel Core i5-6600 (3.3 GHz) - Sapphire Radeon RX 480 NITRO+ OC (UEFI / Backplate), 8 GB - DDR4 HyperX Savage Black, 2 x 8 GB, 2133 MHz, CAS 13 - 1.5TB free on game HD Mods: Installed eveything with NMM. There's been installs and uninstalls. Tried to follow logic on texture orders but could have made mistakes. Using LOOT whenever I install and organized the mods it wasn't sorting according to articles I found on the web. I am also using "I Cant Believe Its NOT ENB 2". All mods work fine. I had to give up on using House mods altogether because they were crashing my game no matter what I tried. :/ My save has been cleaned with Save game script cleaner. Load order: Skyrim.esm Update.esm Dawnguard.esm HearthFires.esm Dragonborn.esm Unofficial Skyrim Legendary Edition Patch.esp SexLab.esm HighResTexturePack01.esp HighResTexturePack02.esp HighResTexturePack03.esp SkyUI.esp EnhancedLightsandFX.esp ELFX - Exteriors.esp RealisticWaterTwo.esp ELFXEnhancer.esp BreezehomeEnchanter.esp Hothtrooper44_ArmorCompilation.esp RealisticWaterTwo - Legendary.esp SMIM-Merged-All.esp Skyrim Flora Overhaul.esp SFO - Dragonborn.esp Hothtrooper44_Armor_Ecksstra.esp hothtrooper44_ArmorPatch.esp Tiwa44_Minidresses_Standalone.esp Tiwa44_Minidresses_Standalone_DG&DB.esp Dark Souls Set 01.esp aMidianborn_Skyforge_Weapons.esp EliteKnightArmor.esp AMB Glass Variants Lore.esp Differently Ebony.esp TGLNordArmor.esp FaraamOutfit.esp marksman'sBow.esp ElderOutfit.esp SkyCompleteLegendary.esp SexLabMatchMaker.esp QuickLight.esp _sunya.esp RosaFollower.esp YurianaWench.esp Sunniva.esp Overknee_Ysolda.esp AmazingFollowerTweaks.esp dD - Realistic Ragdoll Force - Realistic.esp ASX_Spells.esp FNISspells.esp FNIS.esp Some unlisted mods are: - SKSE (duh) - CBBE + bodyslide - Skyrim HD 2K Textures Full - Xenius Character Enhancement - HDT Physics Extensions - BorderlessWindow - BW_Plugin So there you go. Algabar
I don't see anything completely wrong with your load order, but- if using the official HD texture packs, you should also use the unofficial patch for them: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/31255/?- If you haven't already, install "crash fixes": http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/72725/?- since your using additional animations, I'd suggest installing a custom skeleton (XPMSE): http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/68000/? Might not be necessary for most of your animations, but it's a must for HDT. Maybe one cause of your crashes. Purple textures and black faces (or other objects) might be a VRAM issue.Open your SKSE.ini (located in Skyrim/Data/SKSE). Search for these lines:[Memory]defaultHeapInitialAllocMB=768scrapHeapSizeMB=256 Raise "defaultHeapInitialAllocMB" in steps of 128 (up to a maximum of 1280) and see, if the black faces and purple meshes disappear. If not, the purple meshes might be a missing texture issue. These wouldn't occur randomly though - just on certain objects, that are missing their textures. You might also try using an ENB to help with memory allocation. I'm also using the Skyrim 2K HD textures. Thought they were replacements for the official HD pack. Am I supposed to disable the official one then or will the mod you linked to be complementary to the HD one ? - since your using additional animations, I'd suggest installing a custom skeleton (XPMSE): http://www.nexusmods...im/mods/68000/? Not the Extended version though so I'll try that one. Gonna try the ini edits. Thanks a lot for your detailed answer !
Algabar
I'm also using the Skyrim 2K HD textures. Thought they were replacements for the official HD pack. Am I supposed to disable the official one then or will the mod you linked to be complementary to the HD one ? The unofficial patch I linked was made to correct some bugs in Bethesda's HD texture pack. It should be used as long as you got the .esp files from Bethesda's High Res Texture pack enabled.I don't know if its author cosidered "Skyrim 2K HD" a "replacement for the official HD pack". In fact, it is a standalone mod, that replaces a lot of Skyrim textures with higher quality ones. It doesn't require anything and is totally independent from the official HD pack. Personally, I don't think you need the official HD pack at all. "Skyrim 2K HD" (or other large texture replacer packs like "Noble Skyrim") will make your game look great without having to use the official HD pack, which has some bugs and requires three .esps to work and another one (unofficial patch) to iron out its errors. So I'd uninstall the official High Res texture pack altogether an work with "Skyrim 2k HD" (and maybe "Vivid Landscapes": http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/49344/?). But that's my personal opinion, not a must.
neekee
Yeah my question should have been "does the skyrim 2k HD mod replaces everything that is in the official HD pack ?", I guess. :) Been thinking of trying Vivid Landscapes and Noble Skyrim for a while actually but I'm a bit shied away by the size and I kinda like the original greyish skyrim look. I'm sure I'll end up biting the bait soon enough though. :) My Skyrim has been smooth tonight. I didn't have a skse.ini but just created one. Then again like I said the CTDs and texture glitches are random so I can't be sure yet but it looks good so far. If you have other recommendations (stability or neat mods), I'll gladly take them !
