Derko1
So I just reinstalled morrowind.... and I try changing the ini to cap my framerate to 60... but it doesn't work. No matter what I set it to, it's always at 120. I have Morrowind Overhaul 2.0 installed also. Even setting it through MGEX doesn't work. Tried forcing Vsync through radeon pro too and nothing! I get screen tearing and stuttering since it bounces from 80 to 120 fps... any ideas?
Balakirev
How much RAM do you have? What video card? What CPU?
Derko1
How much RAM do you have? What video card? What CPU? I have 8gbs... i7 5.0Ghz and Crossfired 6870s. I don't have bad performance... I just have problems with it running too fast. I think I have seem 64fps being the lowest in Balmora... but it doesn't feel smooth, which I know it will if i have it capped to 60. Balakirev
I just did a search on the Web and found this comment: and i'm thinking of croossfiring the 6870 but i learned that in dual gpu systems the phenomina of microstuttering appears when the framerates drop bellow 60fps... but also i was told that in the 6xxx series it doesn't appear so much... can someone who has crossfired the 68xx series tell me what happens with microshuterring??? I have to wonder if what you're seeing isn't a result of too high an framerate, as too low of one, that in turn causes the stuttering. Just a thought. Have you tried showing FPS on the screen, so you can check that out? You'd do that by opening the console and typing tdt, just in case you weren't aware of it. Derko1
You are right!!! I was looking at the fps through radeon pro... which are exactly doubled while in game. So that means that my actual lowest fps has been actually around 32!
Balakirev
In that case, this guide has some pretty useful info about increasing FPS in Morrowind. Decreasing shadows, dropping resolution, turning off music, etc: you'd think Morrowind would run easily nowadays, but it was never optimized. Great game, though. Best of luck. :)

Oblivion runs better than it! Still worth it, it brings back so many memories of skipping my sophomore hs classes to stay home and play. Then when I got caught... no way of explaining to my parents.... The good ole days!

Oblivion runs reasonably well, even with 250+ mods. Morrowind seems, at times, unaware that it is running on Windows. Still, I wouldn't give that game up for the world.
