trippyzzz
i just got skyrim from gamestop, slapped it into my laptop, and my computer went on the fritz. it was shaking and all. i never had my laptop turn into a vibrator because of a disc being put into my computer haha. after i finished installing, the game automatically picked the medium settings. i have the intel hd graphics family chip. im guessing thats ok...? anywho, i got some console commands working and i tested around a bit. i also got my mouse to work with my keyboard at the same time, so now the touchcheck thing isnt in the way. what i need now is a small and simplistic tutorial on installing the mods on here. specifically, the skyrim online mod here http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=3592 im guessing all mods can be installed the same way, but how would i go about a mod that connects other players? and do i register anything or just simply install this mod and play as is? RitualBlack
If by modding you mean using mods than there is usually a read-me included, though Skyrim online probably isn't the best thing to start off with using. Are you aware that is is currently in an early phase and does not allow two people to roam together fully? Most mods are simply drag and drop though. They will have a data folder (or maybe a meshes and/or textures folder) and it is simply placed into your Skyrim directory so it will merge with the data folder already there. Than you check off the esp under the data files and you are all done putting in a mod. If you wish to learn to actually mod there are some great resources around the nexus also. trippyzzz
is this one also drag and drop into the skyrim directory http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=4929 ? i keep worrying that ill mess something up. and i dont think i will know how to make my own mods. if it requires simple changing an items picture, like how in minecraft you can change portraits by replacing images, then i could probbaly do that oh, and i saw on that link theres a download manager. do i need that, or just drag and drop? SkjoldBjorn
you don't need the mod manager no, but it might be easier for you to use it. I prefer to install mine manually, but thats just my opinion.By dragging and dropping no harm is done, overwriting folders is never an issue, if you see something you want to install wants to replace files that ends with .dds .esp .esm .nif, make sure that you want to replace them, not all mods are compatible and some might override eachother. That excludes situations where you are just going to update a mod you already have installed for example.
trippyzzz
im actually having issues with the nexus mod manager. it doesnt work. i see that it says to move the install file of the manager into a different folder, which if thats the case i usually drop to the desktop all the time, but i cant find the file now. i moved the whole mod manager folder onto the desktop. i found some mods that say to use the nmm, but i did place the quality map mod manually. i did as it said to do on the page for the map. i just tried to install mods manually and through nmm. with the nmm method, i had to wait about 5 min after it hit 99% and then it crashed. manually, i placed the texture folder of the quality map into the data folder with the skyrim.esm file. when i go into the games data files to select the mods, i dont see any mod on the list. perhaps it would be best if someone looks at what im doing through team viewer?
