OneShotCero
I'm not sure about anyone else, but I know pretty dang well that using two weapons doesn't prevent you from being able to actually block in real life. Not to mention it puts unarmed fighters at an extreme disadvantage of being unable to block at all. I mean, really this should be as simple as separating the block script from the left hand key and rebinding it to another key. Unfortunately I've never actually managed to make a script work myself as the only editor i've used has been G.E.C.K and that didn't go to well as I crashed my game. So if anyone could try and take a look into modding this, I would very much appreciate that.
gotenwarrior61
Just wrote out whole elaborate response and it vanished when I googled how to spell "colossal" :( so take 2. I think the reason Bethesda chose to leave this out of the game was they were afraid of it being overpowered. With potentially 2x melee damage (of more if the player is skilled) and being able block an incomming attack then you would be silly not to use this. What I would be able to agree with instead would be a parrying feature. If one could time the enemy's attack and parry at the correct time then the blow and damage would be avoided or only taken slightly (like low level blocking). Maybe if this was a perk so not just a yahoo off the street who picked up a fallen foe's blade would easily massacre the rest of the bandit camp, it would be more appropriate as a honed skill (or perk I mean :P ). What I was a little disappointed about that Bethesda chose to leave out of the game (don't get me wrong, I enjoy this game with over 200 hours playtime over a few saves, I just understand that any game this immeasurably colossal *phew* that it simply is impossible to be perfect and exact to my and everyone else's tasting for that matter) was the blocking feature from Oblivion. I understand it is a little less believable throwing around all your weight in armor and the hundreds of pounds of gear most players lug around to dodge, but maybe again making it a perk as it was in Oblivion, and having it so if you have heavy armor you basically fall on your face and stagger to get up but the blow is avoided, and if you are agile in light armor you can gracefully roll out of the way quick enough to land a blow on him before he recovers from missing you. Maybe have it a perk in both Heavy Armor and Light Armor. But now I am rambling, and to wrap it up I just wish my modding abilities were as good as my ideas. :P But with the CK coming this week, I will take up studying!
