Causticquoth
It felt like they had fixed a lot of the z-fighting issues but they really didn't, the more I play the more I'm seeing it, with my mods installed or not, and with like, oh I duno, a thousand different ini configurations. I am using BETHini now. Horrible horrible horrible z-fighting that I can't get rid of at far distances. It's peppered throughout the mountains near Windhelm, high hrotjgar, friggin peppered throughout everyone. If they had done one thing with this game, they should have nailed that z-fighting down...I like how know one can do anything about it...aren't there some egomaniac programmers in here that could figure it out? You know, one of those guys that jumps into forums and craps all over everyone's posts, then goes and writes Matrix code or something?

As with any attempt to troubleshoot this you need to tell us more about the problem, and what you are experiencing. You also need to go to places where they can help you solve the problem such as STEP Wikipedia. And also Google is your friend We cannot read minds we do not know your set up..............You need to follow exactly the same steps that you would have to do over on the normal Skyrim Forum for "How To Get Help"

Z-fighting.....in the mountains...at a distance.... You know what Z-Fighting is right? My setup: vivid weathers. There it is, vivid weathers. That's it. Also, it happens without vivid weathers. So Vanilla as well. Will this give you the power to answer my question or is it really just that you have no idea how to fix z-fighting in SE so the only thing you can say is "we can't read your mind," like that matrix code writing dude i mentioned? You guys always make it seem like we need to write you a book to solve a problem like this, but the reality is anyone who mods a lot knows what Z-fighting is. Forums have sort of turned into bureaucratic zones where there is a blanket policy for everything regardless of the circumstance. Z-fighting....it's Z-fighting.... Here is more detail about what I am experiencing lol: The snowy mountains in the distance, wherever it is, flickers in certain patches as if the meshes/textures are swapping or the game can't decide which to render. Fixing it is a whole other thing. And I've searched all over google and step...the reason I posted here is because there is no concrete info on how to fix z-fighting in Skyrim SE. The traditional ini fixes with block distance don't help. You can't see it most of the time because it is NEVER clear in the game weatherwise. But with vivid weathers it is clear sometimes and blatantly obvious. But you can still see it in vanilla in a big way in certain conditions. Here is my ini: http://imgur.com/a/ESed2 Edited April 14, 2017 by Causticquoth
Lisselli
What you describe is z-fighting(the flickering), but it's not swapping or the game trying to decide. In fact z fighting should not be happening at a distance at all. We're talking LOD here, and if there is z-fighting, it would be the LOD meshes are clipping through each other with identical z plane, instead of placed side by side. The further you are from the offending meshes, the more obvious the z fighting gets.So when you see any mesh z fight with another, is because they are clipping through each other(misaligned) on the same z value. Certain meshes in the game are designed to clip with each other(organic pieces, like rocks, but not walls or corners) on the same z plane(even X and Y) to have a "blending" effect but the majority are not designed for this.As for how to fix this, I've no idea, but clearly there is something going on with your game. I see no z fighting anywhere, even at a distance. Edited April 14, 2017 by Lisselli
crazylion
The Z-fighting issue you describe is most likely not caused by the game or most of the ini settings. Many users had issues like that caused by there graphic cards and the individual settings. The Forum was quite full of topics to it just after the game came out. Particular with systems which uses 2 graphic cards - like onboard Intel and separate GTX. Windows 10 will not automatic use the gtx card as it requires more power and tries to render the game with the intel driver which can not handel the DX11 requirements proper. You have to look for some old treads here in the forum related to z-fighting and graphic card settings to get more info as this is system specific.
