plying offline

after spending the last 4 days trying to get Steam to work it has. Only to find that the game will not run. I got it to play when I am not able to be online but the headache I have now is just not worth it. I want to play when I have no internet access. I think this crap you go thro just to install a game makes people find other ways to obtain copies. Blah.

Might as well have just thrown my money out the window. Probably got better results tooo

Well, steam is kinda weird on the offline part. It seems you can use it offline, but only as long as your comp has internet connection o_O. If your computer is not connected to the internet it crashes when you try to switch to offline mode. Though, you can switch steam to offline while you have internet connection and then pull the plug, it works that way. I figured that out myself some time ago, my internet connection is awful so I need to switch steam to offline in order to play the games I have .

It's a pain in the arse but you get used to it after a while.

So basically I bought a piece of s*** game i am not going to be able to play since I have no internet connection 65% of the time I would usually play. Mabe I should have gone to a pirate site instead of supporting Bethseda with my purchase. mabe then I would actually be playing right now instead of wanting to SMASH my laptop to pieces with frustration. Huge waste of money and I will quite buying games all together if this is the direction games are going. Blah X2

I have the same problem you have, but I have a different attitude. Instead of whyning about it, I started thinking and I found a solution. Once you activate the game, patch it and set steam so it doesn't update the game, after that set it to offline and block it's internet access with your firewall. Now you can pull out the plug and play offline, though it sometimes crashes (not very often) so you have to allow it internet acces and then block it again. Edited by Werne
