Nuclear Option (Minutemen) bug (Spoilers)

Ok, had a problem a couple days ago. I was doing the Nuclear Option (Minutemen) quest and at the point after I plant the fusion pulse charge, teleported back to the relay room and Sturges tells me to talk to the kid synth. I was not able to interact with the kid and when I tried to talk to Sturges he kept saying "you didnt even talk to the kid, you're not gonna leave him here, are you?". Now I know that conversation is supposed to have dialogue options but they never came up, Sturges kept going back to the terminal and I was never able to talk to the kid. I don't know what caused this problem, I even reloaded a save before entering the reactor room and it still did it. I did have Sturges assigned to the 'Northland Diggers' Wastleland Garage job (motorcycle) at the time, i dont know if that had anything to do with it. I ended up scrapping the whole thing and started a new game, wasn't happy with how I did things anyway.
