Khajiit eyes stretched

I have a few of the popular beautification mods installed right now. And I get this distracting glitch where the khajiit eyes are stretched too far over the eye mesh.

So here's what I have tried so far. Which may not make sense or be much...

 

I tried separately deactivating all of these:

Natural Faces

Ren Beauty Pack

Bashed Patch

 

I then searched for the khajiit eye textures, found it in my Data folder, and removed them all. This did nothing. I put the textures back.

 

I tried finding the khajiit head mesh, but didn't have any luck.

 

fyi, this IS affecting both sexes of Khajiit. But NO other races are affected.

Don't have much time, so I can only give some pointers.

 

This is what's called "Googley Eyes". You can even search for this to get an abundance of occurances and fixes.

It is nothing wrong with the head mesh or the eye meshes and nothing's "stretching" anywhere. It's just the wrong textures used on the wrong meshes.

 

While eye textures can be different from selected eye color/type to eye color/type, eye meshes are 1 set for the whole race.

Googley eyes are most often caused by some beautification mod like EE (Elaborate Eyes, I think) carelessly replacing the Vanilla eye meshes with ones with a totally different texture mapping (to enable 2 different eye textures, 1 for each eye, whereas Vanilla only had 1 for both eyes in the texture). So now any Vanilla, or any non-EE in general, eye textures aren't fitting anymore and the meshes overlay them totally wrong. That's what you're looking at in the screenshot.

 

Wrye Bash can fix this with a setting in the bashed patch, regarding EE eye meshes and compatibility. Getting rid of the beautification mod which introduced them and restoring the normal state/meshes should fix it, too.

For any further detailed instructions search for the term "googley eyes" (or "googly"), or wait until someone else posts something of more help here (I'll be back after 8 hours of sleep, most likely, if you weren't helped by then already).

 

edit: Oh, one more, the head mesh you were searching for is in "meshes/characters/Khajiit", but likely it wasn't even touched and as such can't be found in your folders. The eye meshes though should definitely be found inside there, as those are definitely altered files right now.

Back and trying to figure out which of the mods you posted could have caused this. As it's only affecting Khajiit I'd say it must've something to do with mods only touching Khajiit at least.

There's quite a number of plugins loading after the bashed patch, isolating them from its grasp to maintain compatibility among them.

 

The EVE Khajiit Fix can be part of the trouble, as can be Slof's Better Beasts, but neither of them can be the cause.

This Khajiit Paws As Ability mod is loading outside of the bashed patch's grasp, and as such it is the superior plugin overriding most, if not all, other changes done to Khajiit (most likely back to Vanilla settings, but that's just guessing).

I'm still searching for the mod incorporating the mismatching eye meshes or textures. Maybe the Paws mod loading last reverts all eye texture options back to Vanilla only, while the meshes still require other textures no longer available now... but I still need to find the mod incorporating these first.

 

By another look at the screenshot the left eye uses the lower right quarter of the Vanilla eye texture and the right eye the upper right. If it was Vanilla eye meshes using double-eye textures, we'd see two eyes in one, as Vanilla eyes map over the whole texture. This supports it's the textures being Vanilla and the meshes... something else. Well, I know eye meshes mapping upper left quarter and lower right, or upper and lower half, but upper right and lower right is somewhat new to me. Which eye meshes could those be? Does anybody know? Time to take a closer look into those packages I got on my drive.

I've been doing some more looking around and I haven't found any solutions.

 

I tried removing that Khajiit Paws mod, but that did nothing to help. I also did a search for the eye meshes, I found none which seemed to alter the khajiit. I found some for human eyes, removed them, but nothing changed for the khajiit.

 

Searching for textures hasn't done anything either.

 

Obviously something I installed at one point must be doing this. I just can't find it.

 

I appreciate you continuing to help out with this Drake. Maybe someone else will have some light to shed on my predicament... otherwise I'll keep trying some things.

Alright... I fixed it.

 

After deselecting every mod in Bash didn't work, it was apparent that there must be left over files that were messing the Khajiit eyes up. Here's what I found in the files:

 

Something had replaced the Imperial eye meshes. Those had screwed up the khajiit eyes. However, after I removed those eye meshes; then the beast races were fine, but all the humans, elves, and orcs were messed up (googly eyes). So I hunted for the responsible textures. I found them in the Eyes texture folder under Characters. Removing all the eye textures in there resulted in everyone being fine except for the beast races :facepalm: so I left their textures in there.

 

This may have been a hacky fix, but I'm just happy to be able to look a Khajiit in the eyes again.

Huh? Now that's a weird one for sure.

Oh well, if it's fixed, it's fixed. I just hope all this manually deleting the files some plugins might still reference to won't mess things up later on.

Sadly I couldn't find the real culprit among the mods in your list up to now. So I'm just glad you got it fixed on your own... some way. :sweat:
