Adipose
Building new computer. Would like some input as to composition. Have decided to go with full tower since I got big fat fingers. Have HafX in shopping cart at Newegg. Need advice as to mobo, cpu, gpu, pwr srce, etc. Reasonable funding supply. Very tentatively have picked intel Core i7 6700k quad as cpu. Advice on other options acceptable.
KornelTheGamer
a mobo with a FCLGA1151 is what you need, for GPU i heard the 1060 is pretty goodas for PSU i personally use a Levicom, some german brand, but coolermaster is a good choice too8 GB of DDR4 RAMWestern Digital HDD (1-4 TB) take everything with a mountain of salt since i'm pulling many of these things out of my ass Edited April 15, 2017 by KornelTheGamer
LeddBate
Hey Adipose! Haven't heard from you in awhile. As I have built my last two rigs (and surprise, surprise, they actually worked) I can give you some advice. First, tell me what your budget is for everything that will go into the case. In other words, what's your budget for everything OTHER than keyboard, mouse, monitor(s) and speakers (and/or headphones.) I will then give a few "best-bang-for-the-buck" parts lists and where to get them (taking any current sales into account.) I'll link directly to newegg, tigerdirect, etc. for the parts on each list. I will also suggest an OEM rig or two available at Best Buy that comes close to the lists and suggest how you can trade out a few parts to get what you want. Why do this instead of building the rig from the ground up? Two words: "Service Contract." Building your own computer is a real joy. But if something goes wrong with a component, you have to remove it and ship it back to the manufacturer (if they allow that) to get it fixed or replaced. Buy a rig at Best Buy (or equivalent big box store) and get a service contract on it, you can simply bring in the rig and have the techies fix / replace the problem part. It really comes down to how much convenience you want. If there's a local mom-and-pop computer store with a tech that you trust implicitly, then building your own rig becomes a safer bet as long as you don't mind paying them for figuring out any issues that crop up with your rig. tl/dr; How much are you willing to spend? I'll suggest part lists for best use of your budget. EDIT: Is THIS the case you're talking about? Nice. The only problem you might have is where to put it. Hope you've got lots of room on your desk. Unless you're considering SLI (or Crossfire if you go with AMD cards) you might want to consider a mid-tower case. Not all mid-towers are too small to work in. My current rig is a mid-tower. I've only got one GPU in it, but it can accept another one and there's room to install a radiator for GPU cooling at the top of the case if I ever decide to do so. Let me know if you want suggestions for mid-towers with room to work in. Edited April 17, 2017 by LeddBate
