Yup so the pack does make the game look something better, but no more than what some mods made it.

But it's reasonable to happen.Modders even managed to make Crysis look even better than it looked vanilla, and Crysis is still considered a game with excellent graphics.

What I think would be best to do is to use both the texture pack and the mods, with the mods you like overriding/overwriting whatever they are about.

I mean some things aren't yet changed by mods,so it would be a good idea to keep the official hd textures for them.

My PC cries when I enable it lol. I just extracted the char files and nightingale textures :3 .

BTW have you guys checked out the HD textures on the coin pouches? I find it funny how much detail they put in them XD.

It looks like they just sharpened very few textures and... well, that's about it.

They haven't sharpened textured, they used a higher resolution from source files. You can't magically add detail by sharpening, well I guess CSI series can.

If you want to know what is improved, there is a topic on the official forums that details it. Basically weapons, shields, clothing, armor and architecture is much improved. Sadly, clutter and landscape is not.

Here are two pics I took that show the now very nicely detailed armor;

Ah, I was wondering why the landscape seemed the same.

The armors do indeed like better.

But reading the thread you posted makes it look like the hastily threw everything together. As he points out, there are a few errors in it.

So I extracted the bsa and I made corrections listed here. Now I would repack the bsa. I tried to merge old vanilla textures with the new ones, then I repacked all in a 6GB bsa using FOMM BSA Creator, no compression, then I renamed it as "Skyrim - Textures.bsa": it doesn't work, doesn't read any texture at all. I tought the file was too big, so I remade it compressed (High). It's 3,8GB now but the game doesn't start.

Is it possible doing this? Where am I wrong?

File path inside the bsa seems to be correct: if I open it with BSA Browser I see "\textures\...." just as for the original.

This pack does enhance textures but mosty of them needs a complete rework from scratch, that's what i do and i will continue because my work and some other retex mods (Flora over... Project Frenzy) are way better than this HD Pack in my opinion, no kidding.

We will make this game legendary in realism and Beauty, in a way that no HD upscaling wont never reach.

There is a reason why the Texture pack consists of 2 bsa, the larger one being 2 gb, instead of 1 bsa with 3,3 gb ;)

As already in Oblivion i would simply guess that the bsa size limit is still at 2 gb.
