A Real, Epic Combat Mod

If you ever used deadly reflex or unnecessary violence, you know what I mean, Not one of these "increse kill cam" or "decrease/increase range" mods. I really miss having that one combat mod that made Oblivion probably the greatest game i'd ever played, and Skyrim can outdo it 50x over. DC and UV made Oblivion play like an action game. Combat was interesting, you had to time your blocks, you could kick things, pommel strike things, had 3+ new attacks per weapon type, including some really epic ones. (I really loved the decapitate and the one where you cut off the target's hand) and now, it should be even easier, since Skyrim already has in place a much more advanced hit detection and combat system than in previous games.

It'd be really cool to see the return of a Reflex system, ala Deadly Reflex, where you have to change up your combat style in order to be effective, rather than just spam slash slash slash. In particular, i'd love to see a system that makes dual wield more flowing, and less "kill before you're killed" type thing. I miss being able to dodge attacks or do a backflip to dodge.

I'm sure a mod like this is on the way, especially with the release of the creation kit. I just can't wait for it. Key things I'd really love to see are:

More Killmoves

More intricate combat

More regular attacks

Dodges

Limb-Based Hit detection (I.E. you hit someone in the leg, they run slower, hit them in the arm or hand, they swing slower and do less dmg, etc etc, and same for you)

Much more decapitations and delimbing (s***, if it was possible in oblivion, without scripted killmoves already in place, it should be f***ing epic in skyrim)

Armor actually mattering, Light armor being really worth wearing to dodge attacks better, Heavy Armor not being quite so OP

Arrows that fly straighter and deal more damage, also, Limb based hit detection for arrows would be epic, or zoom-in killcam's for like, headshots and s*** (ala Fallout)

Better Spellcasting. (I always hate it when i waste magicka on a spell that misses, perhaps spells that are attracted to their targets, within reason, would solve this and make spell casting more fun)

and finally, I'd really love to see Dragons and other bosses in this game actually pose a challenge. We have all sorts of tools and spells to use, it'd be really nice to not just have every single boss be a hack and slash until dead, healing occasionally repeat type boss. Weakpoints, attacks that have to be avoided, interesting abilities, etc, would make the act of killing a dragon actually feel awesome. (Not just some bulls*** "Deadly Dragons" mod that increases their health and damage done, I want it to be challenging without having to just spend more time killing them, they should have different attacks than just strafe and fire, land and claw, and occasionally bite.)

THis sounds like a great idea, i hate the combat in skyrim its so boring and simplistic to me it would be great if they made it more like might and magic dark messiah, idk if you know about this game but some things you mentioned are in that game. Also can you tell me where to get that oblivion mod?? mod-db?

this should seriously happen, battles should be more complex, adding to an arena mod, this would be epic

there's a game for the ps2 arena somthing, which is about gladiators including skill system, levels improved weapons etc

and the battle machanisem is so epic...i wonder if there anything like this for the pc, my only hope is an improved skyrim...

The only things that really absolutely need to happen are-

Dodges in general

Blocking with Dual Wield

A couple new power attacks would be nice

Everything else, which would be awesome, is extra, but those for me pretty much sum up my major complaints with the combat system.

If it were an intricate, well developed mod, like the ones in the videos above, i'd love to see a more complex combat system, with a couple different attacks, combos for linking certain attacks, kicks, flourishes, etc etc, and ofc, many more finishers, but that's up to whoever the talented modder is who makes it. (God knows I have no clue wtf to do)

I have some really good ideas for a skyrim overhaul and in my opinion would make it a great game and not have disgusting, unbalanced combat, the thing i think is most lacking in the game is enchanting, spellmaking, and combat. Idk if you have ever played dead island for console but they had a cool optional system with the melee attacks, you could use the analog stick to direct your attacks (horizontal, vertical, diagonal) So say your using a gamepad, you have a club in your right hand, your going to attack from right to left you pull the analog to your right and when in range push to left to execute attack, and depending on how far to the right you pulled the stick would be how strong and how slow the attack would be.

This is also somewhat implemented in boxing games and ufc games, i think its a great system it gets you much more immersed into the game, and imo i hate games nowadays that have such simple combat mechanics (push attack button, move backwards, block and recieve a lot of damage) There is no sense of timing in the combat, theres no timing in the dodging, and its the same attack spammed over and over again and it just gets plain boring, it makes games that should be great fall short.

So I think a mod needs to be made that will address this issue and make the developers think more about the games they are making, and yes if it is made it will be hard but there could be difficulty levels that address timing so its easier. Im just sick and tired of great games that fail bcuz of combat (skyrim, the witcher 2, oblivion) this is all my opinion btw so dont get upset i just get bored easily. But i have a lot of good ideas and im willing to share them and help mod but ill have to get some lessons ive never modded cuz i dont know how, and i dont even know if this certain combat system is possible in the complexity that im thinking of but havent fully typed here. so email me for any more ideas or just for shits and giggles. thank you in advance for reading and nature bless you

I also hate the hack, slash, back-peddle, heal, rinse repeat a hundred times. we need a true combat system no more standing around like an idiot knowing an attack is coming and not doing anything about it, heres a link to a mod idea please follow and tell others!!
