I need help making a simple mod plz

I'm fairly new to modding and although I'm familiar with the GECK i still have trouble getting some things to work

 

like right now I'm trying to add a new character into the game and make her a follower but i can't seem to get her to work

she's a wood elf i've modeled off of Faendal and i currently have her placed at the sleeping giant inn

her factions include:

CrimeFactionWhiterun = 0

CurrentFollowerFaction = -1

PlayerFollowerFaction = 0

PotentialFollowerFaction = 0

TownRiverwoodFaction = 0

RiverwoodSleepingGiantInnFaction = 0

 

every time i go to her in-game she simply speaks idly like the guards :/

any help would be appreciated :)

 

also can anyone explain how add detail to faces? i tried changing her skin color cheeks etc but she still has that basic pasty white default look in-game and in the Ck window :/
