Steam Workshop

To be quite honest, i'm somewhat enjoying it. It's simple and i like the format. It shows all the required information for me when i'm downloading a mod, with very fast mod install ratings, it's quick and easy to see coments and picture. Not to hold anything against the Nexus(Which will always be my first stop for mods) but it simply seams quicker...

What are your thoughts?

How is it any faster then pressing the NMM button and then activating a mod?

For a statement of real value we need to do some tests in everydays' application first.

- Try installing two conflicting mods the modding tools around here can make cooperating already and see how the workshop handles those conflicts.

- Try installing a mod with optional components or choices to be made during install. Does the workshop have install scripts or something?

- Try installing a mod which requires another one to be installed first, like a custom clothing item fitting only a certain modded body for example. Let's see if it warns you that it won't work while the body mod's missing, or even detects if it's missing.

- No load order management? Is this serious or just a mistake? I hope for the latter, as it's all about the right load order once you use more than 1 plugin at the same time.

Really, installing 1 single mod, especially a simple basic one, is something every automated tool can do with one click. But the majority of mods isn't that simple. Put the workshop to a real test to see whether it can take up with the existing mods and their complexity, with one click. Otherwise there's no comparison.

I completely agree, the Steam Workshop seems super limited and a setup for a complete mess for people installing mods, especially people new to using mods. How can they not have load order?

Honestly I wont be using the workshop. As long as SKSE is still being made, I will use NMM to load my mods cause it hasn't failed me yet and you can set your load order just like how it was in the other mod managers. I think the creation kit is awesome, the workshop however was not a good idea. Btw I need to update SKSE cause I do believe there is a new version out for the CK.

I like it for it's simplicity, but it's simplicity will kill it. Uploading mods is a breeze. Finding useful mods, not so much. I can't talk to load order messiness with any authority.

Steam Workshop has a lot of potential... Though i feel like steam is trying to take over modding aswell.. I feel like there should be an outreach by either one or both parties (meaning Valve and various modding sites) to pool together resources and make it so the mods are available across all the sites, rather than some being unavailable on either site.
