Deleting Landscape Grass LOL?

I think it is a bug, it should'nt be that troublesome to modify worldspace, that makes outdoor modding rather hard unless you use platform meshes to cover some of it.

I was going to create a small river, but that will have to wait until a solution for this is out. As i said earlier Smnyus, you can remove the grass by using a "nograss" texture, but the problem is black spots popping up, i have experimented a little to see when the black textures shows up and it seems that they show up when you cross the Location border in worldspace. However, there is less black ingame than in the construction kit itself, so if you are lucky you will not have any black spaces at all, if they are just small we can always cheat with a platform mesh with stones or something to cover it up. Im not sure about removing grass after you have modified the height, but does it show grass mid-air ingame too or just in the construction kit?

^ I'll have to test in-game, but basically everything I've tried in the ck hasn't fixed this. I'm really thinking that this is a bug of some kind, I can't imagine that there is some option we've overlooked. Btw, the black textures are just the ck telling you that you have too many land textures in one quad. You can manage the quad textures by pressing i.

@sk8on A fellow nwn modder here, yeah bethesda's creation kit vastly dissapoints me. Sure you can go for complex, but the aurora wizards made everything so easy. I made a quest in minutes. Added in a nice little town and some forests, all to the original campaign. The creation kit on the other hand, hes let me create a half ass non functional house that took 3 hours. I miss nwn.

So nobody succesfully modded the landscape grass yet?? Seems weird.

Well yes, i have sucessfully added and removed grass by using textures with and without grass. But it will not show until you go ingame for some reason. That also goes for flying grass.

When you put down water all grass in the water will also be gone, so it works, but unfortuantly you can't see that in the CK.

When I first started learning the CS (and this was way back with Morrowind, probably around the same time when you were learning the NWN tools) I couldn't figure out stuff either. My first house was a mess, and it did take a while to learn the program. As much as people say that Beth's toolset has a really fast learning curve, it really doesn't anymore. It's a pretty loaded bit of software, and there's a lot of ground to cover compared to Morrowind and Oblivion's tools. It definitely takes time for new modders these days, but the reward is that its every bit as much if not way more powerful than NWN's tools. Besides, the CK is virtually the same as the GECK for Fallout, I don't know what you were expecting but I feel right at home with it. If they had drastically changed the interface or the way it works, I think a lot of veteran modders would be pretty ticked off, not to mention the devs themselves. :P

hmm, So just retexturing with NoGrass helps even if it still shows up in the ck? will try it out when I get home... Still weird though :-) Edited by somnyus

This is the most recent and posted in grass thread I could find by searching, so excuse me for bumping a few day old thread.

Has anyone found a fix or trick to get grass to update in the Creation Kit?

As a side question, does floating grass relocate to the ground again ingame if you lower terrain, or does it need re-textured for grass to be corrected?

Ok, it seems not everyone has the floating grass problem. Someone at the Skyre forum released a mod yesterday: While he doesn't have any floating grass in-game, some that downloaded his mod did!

Me, I still have floating grass in-game, no matter what I try! I replaced a whole cell with Dirt01, it still shows up in-game.

I'm doing some tests now:
