WhiteLama
Me and several of my friends are having the exact same problem as reported. We start it, it crashes. Immidiately, not doing anything, just loads up, then crash.
BrokenSwords
Ah so it's not just me then, that's comforting it appears that it isn't my operating system either since most of you have windows 7 and still get the crash I have windows XP, but I still can't understand why it crashs on "initializing windows". Should I put this on the Official Skyrim Forums?. Maybe one of Bethesda employees would see it.
JPArtwork
Me and several of my friends are having the exact same problem as reported. We start it, it crashes. Immidiately, not doing anything, just loads up, then crash. I have moved over to this forum, which seems to be the official ones for CK. There are quite a few there with the same issue. The number of people are up to around 10, which is still hardly enough for Beth to make any care about us. But hopefully someone in the community will discover a solution. http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1343599-creation-kit-has-stopped-working/ Edited February 8, 2012 by JPArtwork
Volksch
I had the same problem and did solve it "by accident": I updated my NVIDIA drivers to 285.62. Now the CK starts up just fine. Edited February 11, 2012 by Volk_
nachtman
I had this EXACT problem and it appeared the render window wasn't loading all the way so I figured the problem was there. I updated my ATI Catalyst drivers to 12.1 (released 1/25/12), rebooted and it started flawlessly!!!! Give it a try guys, update your video card drivers to the newest!\ Edit: Also I had to make a completely clean install of Skyrim, and use JGSME to remove all mods in order to make it work. But with JGSME it's only a coupleclicks to reinstall all of them (I'm running around 40 mods). Edited February 11, 2012 by nachtman
hoodrecords
what fixed it for me was downloading the version of the creation kit for the current updated version of skyrim.. mine being 1.5 .. hope it worksª!
metallicafan212
what fixed it for me was downloading the version of the creation kit for the current updated version of skyrim.. mine being 1.5 .. hope it worksª!I had the same problem,i even did what you did, updated it but it still didn't work, so i started messing with the editor.ini's and that got me nothing. but i thought it was a .dll problem so i started replacing .dll for steam in skyrim. i started by replacing steam_appid.dll from portal 2 (because they are both steam games at about the same time) and that fixed it. its not video card drivers, its steam itsself. i cant believe bethesda didn't catch that. brokendeck
How many programs are you running in the background? Do you use any over zealous Anti Virus programs such as full versions of Norton or McAfee? Do you have anything downloading in the background? Tamb0
Have a look at your SkyrimEditor.ini and turn off version control Look for this line - bUseVersionControl=1 Change the 1 at the end to a zero. If it's already set to zero, then there is a bug within the newer version or within some of the game files. In that case, either rollback or wait for a bugfix.
