  1. 1. Should Nexus Port Skyrim MODs via Steam Workshop

Recommended Posts

OK, Skyrim Steam Workshop is open for business.

I was wondering if Nexus is considering porting MODs via Steam Workshop

I think the would enhance the viability of Nexus MODs. They could make it an option for Nexus Modelers or do it automatically.

This would also give gamers an OPTION other than using NMM when it comes to Steam games.

Just out of curiosity, what exactly is there to "port" from a regular mod in a ZIP file to the workshop format?

I was thinking of doing some Skyrim mods in future also, and then maybe even publishing through the workshop, but was stopped right in the track already by it denying this to me.

My mods always rely heavily on script extenders and require other mods to work most of time, as I'm always trying to be compatible to "all" body mods and such, which apparently both is not allowed. Plus there's no way to handle conflicts via load order or other means from what I've heard, so it's highly unlikely there will ever be a mod of mine on the workshop... but still, just out of curiosity, I'd like to know what has to be done to "convert" a regular mod (plugin(s) + resource files, that is) into a workshop-accepted file.

edit: Nope, no mods from me on the Workshop, not even in future. Had a look at the first 100 pages of comments to uploaded mods there so far... not a group of people I want to get in touch with. They don't even know how mods work and blame it on the modders when the proposed one-click-install fails, which is only natural to happen given Valve doesn't know how mods work either and Bethesda didn't tell them. No, not going to bother with this.
