krillelille
I've used the Nexus for years and years, recently I had to disable the ads because they would mess up my browsing (every tab would start auto-refreshing every second, thanks to some ad or something) but I want to support this site. I then saw that I could do a one-off lifetime payment to get rid of the ads, and it's a very fair price. BUT I've run in to a bit of a "problem" namely that the site want's me to put in a lot of personal information and I'm not that keen on doing that. This site has already been compromised once, and even thou I'm fairly certain that security measures has been made since then, I don't want to give/store this type of information on a site if not absolutely necessary. I'm gonna pay with paypal, so they already have my information, would that not suffice? Maybe there is some sort of law that a site needs to get this info when selling stuff? But I thought I'd ask if there is any way around this step. #TinFoilHat
Perraine
AFAIK no personal information has EVER been compromised on The Nexus sites. I believe there was one occasion where there was a "concern" that login information "may" have been compromised, and the site admins immediately recommended a password change as a precaution only. Thandal
The Nexus does not store any of that personal information. And there are only two reasons it's requested on the payment page: (1) Taxes. The Nexus needs to know your claimed nation to determine how much tax to collect, (if any) and to whom it should be paid. (2) Anti-fraud techniques. Some payment mechanisms require that info as proof that the account/card number matches the actual holder. If you're using PayPal, then you can claim your name is "Santa Claus" and your street address is "The North Pole" for all we care.
