puppy14
Call me a moron, that's fine, but this is bugging me. I know the Creation Kit is barely 24 hours old, but I can't seem to figure this out. When I owned Morrowind, it was as easy as popping in the CD and using meshes off of the CD to create custom items (static meshes for activators, etc). I can't find Skyrim's meshes anywhere. Well, there is the steamapps/skyrim/Data folder, but I can't seem to do anything with .bsa files. There has to be an easy solution for this. I modded on Morrowind for years. Yes, I modded only simple things...but I still was well versed in certain aspects of the Construction Set. This has me stumped, and it is frustrating. Thanks! gengrimm
You need a .BSA extractor that can extract the data. I don't think they changed anything from Obliv/Fallout so their BSA managers should do the trick. Are you trying to use an item for something other then it is? I.e use a sword as armor, torso as a shield. If NOT, then you can find the item in the toolbox in CK right click, edit, Change the ID (NOT the name) of the object. Hit ok/apply. It will ask if you want to create a new object/actor/whatever, hit yes. Boom you got your self a brand new uniwith its own unquie ref id.
puppy14
Thanks for the speedy reply! Basically, I'm trying to turn a platform (in this case, a static listed as "DwePipeCap02") into a activator that animates and moves up and down (elevator in my player house). The scripting I'll be able to figure out, but I just want to make sure that when I use this .BSA extractor, I put the meshes in a correct file where Skyrim Creation Kit knows what they are, and can access them during the game. I may try to copy it now, give that a shot real quick.
