Finding a specific spot on world map in CK

The outdoors is mostly in worldspace Tamriel. What I usually do, is go to a named location such as the closest settlement and then go in the direction I need to in order to reach the right place that I picked out. Study the world map in-game to figure out what direction and distance the place you want to mod is from some existing location.

Yeah the world map is one big bunch of wilderness and coordinates without an easy way of finding the right spot. it would be nice if there was a way to pick something in the location you want to use like a rock or a tree and get the coordinates from that.

I get that David, it would just be nice to have a quick and easy shortcut to get the coordinates of the cell. I already picked mine out and was adding stuff to it when the CK crashed and I saw this thread while waiting for it to load again. i thought hey i will add my complaint of no easy way to find the spot since you already wander about in the game looking for it then you need to wander about in the CK.

You can jump to a specific object. Here's how.

1: In game, go to the area you want to find, and look for a rock or tree or other object.

2: Bring up the console with the ~ key and click on your object to show it's ref ID number. (make sure it's not '14' which is the player and doesn't begin with 'FF' which are objects generated during play)

3: Write down the number and quit Skyrim.

4: In the CK, on the 'Edit' menu, choose 'Find Text'

5: In the search box enter the number you wrote down and click the 'Find Text' button.

6: Click the tab that say 'Objects, Etc', you should see the object you picked in the results below, double-click it to jump to it in the Render Window.
