Random enemies/War of the Commonwealth?

Hiya,

I've been away from FO4 for a few months and am currently scouting out mods for another playthrough.

In the past, one of my must-haves has always been War of the Commonwealth - I have hundreds of hours on this game, and a Radscorpion-ambush fails to be an ambush when you know exactly where it's going to happen, and on Survival enemies respawn so slowly that you end up with an empty and therefore safe wasteland sooner rather than later.

Unfortunately, from what I gather WotC is either dead and/or too buggy to be safely used. Is there anything else that adds an element of randomness and additional enemies? Or is WotC still viable? I'd definitely miss the utter mayhem it caused on higher settings :D

Wotc is stil a great mod. I would not call it dead, but it will never be updated to add spawn points in Nuka-World.

It might have a lot of conflicts with other mods, as it does edit a lot of world spaces. Many consider conflicts to be bugs, but I do not find it buggy.

If you have a lot of mods that add new settlements then Wotc will most likely conflict with them. Right now I have one extra, and loading after Wotc solves it.

From my experience Wotc is not for weak computers, and slow HHDs. I do not have the latest high end system, and the piss poor optimization of FO4 will make for long load time for Wotc, unless you have FO4 on a SSD. This was my issue before putting it on a SSD.

I will add, and I do not consider this a bug, but wotc can mess with the main quest to kill Kellogg.

Due to the settings, synths are neutral/friendly unless you kill them every time you see them.

Right not I have to do the twice. The first time through I did not kill any synth, and it did bug Kellogg. So have to try by killing all the synths I see, and see if it works.

Ok this one is minor, and not game breaking.

Sounds like nothing much has changed since I last played then, so that's excellent news :D

I don't consider conflicts to be bugs either, that's just something I need to sort out at my end (which I'm admittedly not great at, but I'm learning).

I've had the friendly synths (and hostile railroad :S) before, but that fortunately never caused any issues with the Kellog quest for me. I think I did set them to hostile manually and killed them all though. The only quest I ever had massive problems with and ultimately had to advance via console commands was the Memory Den one, and I'm pretty sure that had nothing to do with WotC.

Anyway, thank you both for your replies, and I'm really glad I won't have to go without ridiculous amounts of different enemies all fighting each other around every corner :D Raelly livens things up.

My issue with the Kellogg quest is the synths turn hostile during the dialog with Kellogg, and bugged that part of the quest. So I have to kill the two with him first. Minor issue.

Wotc has made exploring very different. I only have a small issue when I try to fast travel, or load a save in downtown areas, but I think it is more due to my having a somewhat week computer.
