The description on the Oblivion XP mod

This mod completely changes the default leveling system to one similar to the classic XP systems found in games such as Baldur's Gate and World of Warcraft. For example, you now gain XP for completing quests or feeding on someone as a vampire. Explore new areas, search for Artifacts or steal items to gain XP! And best of all, every setting is fully customizable through a handy .ini file!

This mod was amazing for Oblivion for it made leveling up in general and raising skills less of a chore in that you no longer had to worry about constantly using a skill just so it would level up. Now you could just focus on killing monsters, doing quests, and other things instead of the tedious work that leveling up certain skills could be.

To make this mod someone would need to create an EXP bar, assign xp points according to monster type/level (and method used to kill maybe? like sneak kill), and assign XP to all the quests, a set xp for the different location types, and maybe other xp for things like stealing, reading books, etc. If someone could implement a stats menu like perhaps the old Oblivion stats that affected skills by giving increases/decreases, it would make this game more of an actual RPG and give you more options to customize your character to make it different from the boring, streamlined leveling process that Skyrim uses. The mod page on the Oblivion Nexus describes the mod more, citing various ways to gain XP, and some of the equations used to calculate XP gains, like what level you are and how many companions you have with you.

This was such an awesome mod for Oblivion and I honestly couldn't play without it. I really hope someone decides to make a mod like this for Skyrim, since the creator of Oblivion XP hasn't been active for a long time and I can't seem to contact him. If anyone needs help with making this mod, I could help, but I only know basic Creation Kit and intermediate java coding skills.

You aren't the only one that's wanted a exp mod like this for Skyrim, I've wanted one since it came out, I even also posted a thread asking for it! I GREATLY prefered how levels and skills were handled in Fallout 3 and New Vegas when compared to how the Elder Scrolls does it. However, I've been looking and nobody seems to even be working on one, much less actually completed one.
