Krawll
Hey fellow Dragonborns !! I'm sorry for posting this question here since it's not related to Skyrim but i like this community and i know there are a lot of very knowledgable people on this forum so i thought i'd try my luck here . And besides, the problem itself is causing problems while playing the game . In short words , my mouse right click button doesn't work properly. The button works i'm 100 % sure of that which means that the problem isn't the mouse itself. I also did some tests that proved to me that the button works just fine which leads me to beleive that it's an option somewhere that i need to disable. That mouse cost me 90$ at Best Buy, it's a gaming mouse ( Logitech HID-Compliant mouse). So when i say it doesn't work properly i mean that , if i click and hold the right button, the button will act as if i wasn't holding it . In other words if i'm casting a spell in-game , my character will start casting but then he'll stop casting before the spell is fully cast. Same thing happens if i wanna use a shield, he will raise the shield for a second and then set it back down while i'm still holding the button. If i'm in windows, i cannot click and drag a box over multiple icons , instead it will pop up the ( Right click menu) right away. When i first installed this mouse on my computer , it was acting normaly like any other mouse i had used in the past. But then i saw videos of people talking about updating drivers regularly ( Drivers in general) i also found articles on the internet on the subject so i finaly decided to start updating my drivers and i kinda gone crazy with it . I updated my video card's drivers and didn't get any problems with it . Updated many other drivers and still didn't get any problems from the updates. Now since my mouse was working fine i shoulda left it the way it was but when i saw that there was an optional Driver available for it i thought i'd give it a try . Once downloaded, i now had a kind of new program on my desktop that offered a bunch of new options related to my mouse. Now i swear i never touched any of the options, i just opened the program, checked it out then closed it . There was nothing in there that caught my attention. But then when i loaded the game, thats where i noticed the issue. So i went back to windows and opened the program once again and tried a few different settings hoping to fix the issue and nothing worked . So i then decided to completly uninstall the mouse drivers from my computer and uninstall my mouse completly . I then booted my computer with my mouse unplugged . Went back to windows , plugged my mouse back in , windows obviously detected the new device right away and installed drivers on it's own just like it did the very first time i installed that mouse. For the first few seconds, i thought i had fixed the problem. I could click and drag boxes accross the screen and all seemed fine but only for a few tries. Then the problem came back. Now it seems like it's intermitant. Sometimes it's there , sometimes not which makes it even weirder. Now all that hapenned quite some time ago , even before Skyrim came out and so far i managed to simply deal with the problem but i'm simply tired of it. Today i was fighting Sahloknir ( Named Dragon from burial mound) and i'm using the Deadly Dragons mod and it's very crucial that i can use my shield properly because if i allow him to use his breath on me just once, i'm dead. One detail i omited to tell is that if i tap the button harder , it will hold but if i simply click it normaly it won't hold. So some people might say, there you go , you got your solution right there , but i've been dealing with this issue for a long time now and i'm simply not getting used to it . I mean i always eventualy forget to "HIT" the button and i end up just clicking it normaly and then i die because it was one of those times where my life depended on it . Also, i don't wanna start hitting the button hard too often because i know that the mouse isn't broken and i don't want to do something that might end up breaking it for good. Now earlier i said i did some tests that proved that the button is working, what i did is i opened the mouse options in the control pannel and i switched the buttons . In other words, my right button was now acting as my left mouse button and vice versa. Once i did that, i could click and drag normaly with both buttons without any problems . My right button was doing a perfect job at being a left button and the left was doing a perfect job at being a right button. The issue only occurs when the buttons are in their rightfull position. Now i definatly don't want to leave them like that cuz it would take me years to get used to right clicking wherever i would normaly left click and vice versa. I've researched the issue on google using many different search words and many things came up but nothing was exactly the same as my problem and the worst part is that none of their issues have been fixed eihter . I did find one post however that was exactly the same as my issue . It was a post from World of Warcraft forums and i've read it all and found out that there were at least a Dozen people having the same problem and no one had come up with a fix . Some people even tried buying a new mouse and it didn't fix it . Most of them seemed to think it was caused by a patch in WoW so thats when i realised i wouldn't find my answer there. The last thing i attempted was to download a registry cleaner . I don't regret doing so since i had never cleaned my registry ever and my computer has now gained a lot of lost performance and it even freed 13 GB of space on my Hard Drive HAHA !! But sadly, the issue still remains and i'm running out of options . I'm realy hoping that someone here knows how to fix this . I'm realy desperate . Like i said , i'm pretty sure it's an option somewhere that i just need to tick off . The fact that pressing it hard makes it possible to drag and not pressing hard only makes a normal click only increases my beleif that it's actualy an optional feature somewhere . But i've used up all knowledge i have so far and i cannot find that feature anywhere and it certainly is not in the normal mouse options window from the control pannel. I'm begging on my knees guys , i'm realy desperate for that miracle doer who will know what to do to fix the problem. Thanks in advance for any replies any replies will be apreciated , whether it fixes the problem or not . I'm open to any kind of suggestions . MShoap13
If the mouse is still under warranty, I'd consider replacing it. The fact that "hitting" the button makes it work properly stands out to me as an indication of an issue with the hardware itself and not drivers, etc. Edited February 9, 2012 by MShoap13
Krawll
I kept doing more and more research on the issue and all posts i've found end up with people saying it's the Micro Switch. Some people say they fixed the issue by desoldering the micro switch and replacing it with an old mouse's micro switch. I simply refuse to beleive that my mouse has any problems other than a stupid driver that messed it up. The problem started a few seconds after i downloaded the Setpoint application months ago and the fact that the button works perfectly when i assign it to the left mouse button's function, only confirms that the switch is fine. The thing that makes this even more frustrating is that there is no reply from any kinda support staff on any official forums for Logitech products. The closest thing i found to a Support staff member's reply was a retired logitech employee who's answer was even more useless than any common member of the forum. I realy can't beleive this , this is a real nightmare . I'm gonna keep hoping that someone will read this post and know how to fix this but i'm definatly losing hope every second. Now i want to apologize in advance because i'm gonna try and keep this thread alive at least for the next week or two to make sure that as many people as possible get a chance to see it . Then i'll let it go . And please beleive me when i say that i'm not trolling , this is a real issue and no matter how many posts i have to put in here to keep this thread alive, i'm not doing it to annoy anyone . I hate trolls with a passion so i'll never do anything that makes me one of them. Krawll

It would be kinda rude if it was lol. When i started writing my second post there was no replies yet and it was just me ranting out to oblivion lol. Thanks for replying and i have to admit that from a certain point of view it does seem to be the mouse itself but as i said in both my posts , the fact that the problem started right after downloading the setpoint application from Logitech, it makes me refuse to beleive that the problem comes from my mouse itself. Plus the fact that my right mouse button works perfectly fine once i assign it to the left mouse button's function. I'm 99.9 % sure that it would still be perfectly fine if i had never downloaded this damned application. And the only reason i said 99.9 % is because i cannot prove it and it's too late too late now since it has been downloaded. All i'm hoping for is a way to revert everything back to what it was before i downloaded it . Thanks again for the reply though. As i said, any reply is apreciated .
